[columns][nextcol]You're gently nudged awake,Hey, we have to go. It's first light and the Pardas are watching to make sure we leave. What you wouldn't give to have a few extra minutes of sleep. You take a beat and come to terms with having to be awake and facing the day. You fold up your blanket - it was larger than you had expected so you were about to roll yourself up and stayed warm all night. However, you do wish the Foos had provided everyone with a sleeping bag.
You see a few dragons headed toward where one of the Pardas is pointing. No time to sit and eat some of your rations then, you have to eat as you walk. You feel energized despite your apprehension. You listen to some of the conversations around you as you walk.
"Where do you think Marshall went?"
"I don't know, but would it be cruel to hope something happened to him?"
"I'm not sure, but I'd rather him be okay since he may be needed to help us get off this island."
"Do you think the treasure will be at the waterfall?"
"No. What are the chances that we find the treasure at the first location on the map? Marhsall would have done all of this work to get us here, only to realize he didn't need us - he just needed to widen his search to the waterfall. No, I think we're just going to find a waterfall. Just our luck, the treasure will be in the volcano."
"Do you have any food left?"
"No, I ate it all. I could go for some more."
Before long, you hear the distinct crashing of water - you must be close. You walk for about another ten minutes when the waterfall comes into view. It's massive. It's no surprise that it's beautiful. The sun is still rising, but it still shines a spectacular light on the rush of water. The main fall towers above the group, and there are several smaller falls, but they all drop into the same large pool of water. The water looks crisp and refreshing. [/columns]
---
[columns]A dragon behind you asks everyone, "Should we look around to see if we see anything that looks like treasure or a clue?"
You all agree that it would be advantageous to split up, but stay close while you explore. You pair up with a dragon from the wind flight. They're on the quieter side which is fine with you, you prefer to keep to yourself for the time being. You decide to check out a few of the large boulders, maybe there's some ancient text carved into one of them? Everything is a bit slippery, but you and your partner make your way carefully.
There's nothing on the boulders. You feel a bit silly looking for something that may not even exist? You're not even sure what kind of treasure you're looking for. You and your quiet new friend decide to just sit on the boulders and wait. You're not sure what you're waiting for, since you're all operating on a hunch right now.
From your vantage point, you can see right into the pool of water. You're not in the center, but off to the right a bit. The tallest of the falls is way too high to climb safely. But you can go a bit higher to the next ledge that home to more stable boulders. You decide to climb up even further. You're a little winded, but you're confident in your footing. You sit down and enjoy the cool morning air. But that's when you get a whiff of yourself - ugh, you could use a good wash. You look in your bag to see if there's any kind of soap, even though you didn't see any earlier. [nextcol][/columns]
---
[columns][nextcol]"Ugh, I wish I had some soap."
"Here, you can have some of mine. I kept some from the hut. I didn't know if we were going to be returning to our rooms or not, I hate not being clean. Just break off a chunk."
"Wow, thank you!"
Thank you deities for the prepared dragons in the bunch. You break a piece off of the bar of soap. You don't know what to do about your clothes or a towel, but knowing how hot the island gets, you're fairly sure that you'll have no issue drying off later.
You smile at your new friend, and then get a little running start, and leap off the boulder you're on, and fly into the water below. Wow, it's c-c-c-cold, but it's t-t-t-totally worth it, if you can feel clean for part of the day. You make quick work of running the soap over your body. You only took a small piece, so it starts to dissolve pretty quickly. You adjust to the water...it's actually pretty nice. You decide to stay in a bit longer. You notice that a handful of others are along the shore of the pool, and a few dragons are further in the pool.
You dive down, and look around. The water is exceptionally clear. Huh. It doesn't look this clear from up above even with the sun. Magic? You come up for some air and look around. You were a little worried you had swam into a portal or something. Good, everyone is where you last saw them. You take a deep breath, and take another dive. Something compels you to swim towards where the falls crash into the pool. [/columns]
---
[columns]
Something darts in front of you. You stop swimming as your eyes try to catch sight of whatever was in front of you. There it is again. Whatever it is is quite large and quick. You begin to surmise that you should have taken your bird bath and gotten out of the water as quickly as possible. The calm and serene scene had, once again, lulled you into a false sense of security. You push up to the surface of the pool and yell,
"THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE WATER!"
You're happy to see that everyone immediately listens to your yell, but then it dawns on you that you're still in the water with whatever that thing is. Something grabs your foot and yanks you under. You start to struggle, this isn't how you want to die. You just wanted to be clean, and eventually go back home. You have to at least try - you give whatever is dragging you deeper into the water, a sharp and hard kick. It makes a pained sound and releases it's hold on you. You take the opportunity to kick again and again until you make it towards the edge of the pool where other dragons help drag you out of the water.
You lay at the edge of the pool and gasp for air. That was utterly terrifying. You hear a series of gasps from your companions. You sit up, and see what they're seeing. A maren.[nextcol][/columns]

I'll type up some kind of RP response soon. The basics will probably be just Arcas pulling out his parchment and writing notes to figure it out. Nothing overly fancy.

Something hollow aches in her. Qhysyn had known that there were dragons going missing—dying— each day. But strangers they may be, there’s a difference between hearing about it and experiencing it with someone close by. A child. Her tears are silent, yet they seem to flow endlessly.
When Icicle mentions about paying their respects, Qhysyn is quick to offer up a prayer for Delta: “May your soul be treated kindly, and may you rest peacefully.” Most of her Island’s funeral rites can’t do here, but the least she could do is hope that he’s in a better place— perhaps he might even return, just like some of the other dragons had.
…
Qhysyn had taken the last watch, and so she’s left to stew with her own thoughts, with only the company of a few other dragons also keeping watch and the unknown surrounding them.
The pardas’ words… she can’t be too sure of their certainty, but somehow, she feels that their statement about their group being the third to step foot onto the island is true. Which begs the question: have there been no survivors beforehand? How many dragons have trod on the same paths as they have, only to be met with unfortunate endings one by one? Would they slowly be picked off too?
…have they traversed to the same locations as they did? Their third group; are they exploring the same locations as previous groups, finding the same information and meeting the same fates? Or are they exploring different places for Marshall to narrow down the location of the treasure?
The more she thinks about it, the more uneasy she feels. Is this all a ritual, then? Gather enough sacrifices to attain the true treasure? Or is this all a play to entertain the whims of— of whoever the true mastermind is?
…it’s too late, but not for the first time, she regrets ever leaving her home.
Qhysyn shakes her head. It’s no good for her to be too curious, worse for her to get too worked up over theories and speculations. It might be better to talk about it to her groupmates once everyone is awake. Instead, she reminisces about fond memories with Damsel and the fishers back at home to calm herself, and waits for sunrise to dawn upon them.
……
When the time is right, she’s the one who wakes everyone else up. After sharing her thoughts about the situation at hand, she spends the rest of the trek to the waterfall quietly; mostly, she listens to everyone else’s thoughts. That, and Delta’s death… still lingers as a knot in her heart.
Even the waterfall’s natural beauty only seems dull to her now. Qhysyn can hardly enjoy herself when the atmosphere is tinged with anxiety and danger, after all. She doesn’t dare to stay too long near the waters, only splashing some water on herself to ‘shower’. It’s at times like these that she’s grateful for her smaller size in comparison.
So, when she hears the yell, Qhysyn immediately backs up from the waters, looking around for her group mates quickly. She pays little attention to the maren at first, more concerned with checking over her group mates and helping to patch up any injuries they may have. She tunes back in to listening to the maren’s words just in time to hear them talk about the passageways.
A riddle? No, multiple riddles and puzzles? Thankfully, Qhysyn had grabbed the pen from her hut before coming out. She doesn’t dare to write on a leaf or a rock (who knows if that would be considered rude to the forests’ denizens?) but instead quickly jots down the current riddle on her arm, before showing it to the rest of the group to decipher together.
……
But it seems someone is faster than them in that regard. As word gets around about the riddle’s answer and the requirements, Qhysyn frowns.
“True of heart…intentions honest and true…” she murmurs. What sort of intentions must it be? Qhysyn… well, she likes to think herself to be fully sincere in wanting survive this nightmare and head back home, but in regards to the treasure? She doesn’t want it at all, but would it those intentions be considered ‘true’? Or is there a deeper meaning hidden behind these words?
Regardless, Qhysyn’s lack of certainty doesn’t make her a good candidate to test the waters out. That is a fact she’s sure of.

@Dragonwyspr oh wow that was fast! congrats!
@liteweaver I’m sorry if I got anything wrong, but I’m pretty sure I sent you a pm with the revival item yesterday… but I checked and I wasn’t revived. Did I do something wrong sending it? I’m sure I sent it before time ran out…
To open the door, you must be true of heart. Any with ill will, will never pass. Speak the words aloud. My intentions are honest and true.
Whelp, I tried. Whomp whomp Solution; apologies for my poor penmanship, first time solving a puzzle like this.

Arcas awoke with a start.
Dammit, he thought with a scowl. I fell asleep!
He quickly looked down at his companions, who were just beginning to stir at his sudden motion. He sighed, relieved. At least nothing happened to them.
He gave them time to stretch and get their bearings before rising to his feet. He stretched and yawned, preparing for another likely long day of walking.
~~~
The waterfall was incredible.
It was tall, and undulated down from the cliffs into a shimmering pool, that snaked off into the woods as a stream. Several large rocks seemed to cradle the main body, giving it a rather secluded feeling. Arcas hung back near Trench and Orser. They seemed to have a collective agreement to keep to the center of the group, and stay out of any potentially risky situations for the time being.
It proved to be beneficial when a few dragons bathing in the water suddenly panicked, flailing out of the water as a rugged, aqua-scaled Maren rose from the water, a dangerously sharp trident clutched at their side. They sneered with distaste at all the dragons cloistered around their waterfall, and began to speak.
~~~
The puzzle the Maren displayed to them was strange. Blank spaces and strings of letters at the bottom. Arcas hummed, considering it for a moment. He reached around to his bag, pulling out a reaf of parchment and a quill. He sat, and analyzed the puzzle.
The letters... each column seemed to share the same amount of letters as the number of boxes in the same line. Arcas noted a few obvious 'the's. And if that one is an E, this one must be an R...
By the end of it, Arcas realized he had deciphered it rather quickly. Glancing around, he saw most dragons were still puzzling over it.
He supposed he should share his answer.
He clears his throat.
"I've solved the puzzle," he says simply. Many dragons look up at him, with varying expressions. "I'll read it.
"To open the door you must be true of heart. Any with ill will, will never pass. Speak the words aloud..."
Arcas pauses. He has a realization then, that his intentions may not be quite pure enough for this door. He dares not speak the incantation, in case the penalty for ill intentions goes beyond a simple lack of response from the door.
He feels rather unsure then, with all the eyes on him.
"Who here feels confident reading the incantation? I admit my motivations lie in discovering the treasure. I don't know that the door would peg me pure enough, and I don't think I want to find out what happens if I read this."
He swallows, anxious and with a creeping sense of discomfort.
"Is there anyone who feels their intentions lay beyond getting this treasure?"

@Oopsie4711 @Lucciola
Rahh get pinged.
I FEEL BAD FOR SOLVING THAT SO FAST :sob: SORRY Y'ALL. I wanted to at least get this RP response out quick so we could progress and figure out who should recite the words. Arcas would NOT be a great pick for that LMAO.
I will try to be online so I can respond to any detailed RP responses! Though also feel free to just come on up and try reading the incantation. I don't mind anyone RPing on Arcas' behalf.
@imginate
Thank you haha!! Sorry again for the speed :sob: hopefully it at least makes for some interesting RP?

[S]Have not checked bingo yet. Will do that and edit shortly.[/s]
And another slot! Hoping I get a bingo soon!

The day had started earlier than Orser was used to, and he was still rubbing the sleep from his eyes when they had arrived at the waterfall. Even through his sleepiness, however, he could sense something uneasy about the water running there, and hung back from the shoreline. That had turned out to be one of the smarter decisions he made since coming to the island. He watched, aghast, as a maren-like creature rose from within the depth of the water, and spoke to the group with a strange, distorted accent that Orser could barely understand.
The puzzle that appeared was no less mystifying than the maren itself. The blanks and letters soon blurred together in Orser’s head, and he quickly gave up the task, choosing instead to recite the letters to his friends as they worked away at the puzzle. Soon enough, Arcas held up the completed riddle, and shared the answer for all to hear. One “of true heart” must open the door, or else… what? Whatever it was, Orser had a feeling that it wasn’t going to be all too pleasant. The auraboa slowly backed away from the proposed task of reciting the words before the door. He wasn’t sure what his intentions were, yet, and the thought of perishing to find out didn’t appeal to him too much...

@Dragonwyspr @Oopsie4711 Ping ping ping pongg- I think Orser shouldn’t be a top candidate for reciting the words out loud as well xD The poor guy doesn’t know where exactly his intentions lie just yet >.>
