Chime is a necromancer who's adopted a son, accidentally created 2 sludge children, established a mock court of odd individuals and a couple murderers, and raised a gleaming tower in a swamp for them all to inhabit! It's all very on brand, really.

He called it "just an experimental robotic spider", which became JAERS. He keep trying to upgrade it and he's so found of it he even begins to think it (or maybe, "him" ?) have a consciousness.
