Wow, so many amazing dragons. I'm impressed! I've got some Assassin's Creed inspired fan dergs that I'm still perfecting while trying to make them their own thing. For them, I go for colours and genes I feel would match based on their clothing (or my favorite outfit(s), looking at you Evie) and personality or family lineage if available. I think my best example is inspired by Ethan Frye going off the description given from the book while still having fun with it. [outfit=652478] I've got two pairs based on Warcraft characters despite breed/genes/colours not being perfect matches, still perfecting their outfits (because funds are a pain for how detailed I'd like to get. [outfit=665708] I'm currently planning out a few Apex Legends fan dergs based on my mains/favorites. I've got two pairs to try and breed for dragons I feel would match Wraith and Mirage so far based on their outfit colours, breed changes and genes can wait. Might see about nest rentals just for the sake of eye colour. One issue with eye colour for my Wraith dragon would be if I should go based on her normal eye colour that so many forget is a thing? Hmm as for me, usually I'll get an idea or scry around (and/or mess with the dressing room) and then not make the fandragon. XD For me, element is more important than eye color most of the time, so if I'm making, say, a Pikachu fandragon, it will not have Earth eyes (even though, for the most part, this would be more accurate since Pikachu usually have brown-type black eyes.) It will have Lightning eyes because Pikachu is an electric-type pokemon. Where element doesn't matter (like, if it's someone without elemental powers or has power over multiple elements or something) then I may try to match eye color. But I always design my fandragons before I look for them and I rarely veer from the design. At the very least, I have some non-negotiables (which usually manifest in the secondary color, but can also include other elements such as breed or the aforementioned element and, obviously, whether the dragon is male or female.)

I don't have too many fandragons, and some are more nods than true fandragons, and most are from the Fire Emblem video game series. Here are some of my dedicated fandragons. None of the Shadows of Valentia ones are quite finished, and since Berkut and Rinea require gem genes, it may take a while for them to be complete. Alm needs his outfit, but it's in his bio. Ashe, ironically, is the most complete. He's one where I just wanted Common Wind eyes and a Silver Glimmer on a male dragon, and the primary and secondary had to be within reason. I threw together his outfit based on his school uniform without a reference, but I think it turned out pretty well. Oh, and Makoto on the end there is a Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time fandragon of the Nocturne of Shadow. He's a Shadow Nocturne with Shadow as all three of his colors.

As for how accurate they are, that depends on what you're measuring by, now doesn't it?

I try to make my fandragons as accurate as possible but, honestly, I do take quite a few liberties with them. Most of my effort goes into making the outfits and I'm pretty impatient when it comes to finding the perfect colors. I tend to have a base color combination in mind, with the primary usually representing outfit color or general color scheme and secondary being hair color (tertiary varies). Again, though, I tend to just settle for something close to that or just impulse buying. ^^; Genes depend on what I think looks good... and eye colors vary on the dragon, but I try to match them to either the character's eye color or personality whenever possible. Arthas (from Warcraft), for example, was my first fandragon and I found him with the exact colors I was looking for (Black/White/Ice) and he had Ice eyes as well. The apparel combination was done later and has evolved over time. He hatched with colors that reminded me of the character, [s]even if the primary could have been a darker green.[/s] Apparel was easy too, though FR doesn't have the right color apparel to accurately recreate his outfit. They were originally just named after the characters, but then I started to dress them to match their namesakes. I actually really like it because it feels really accurate. I literally randomly bought these dragons off the ah and thought they'd make good fandragons XD Some of them I created in the workshop first and then searched for in the ah. You should scry your fandragons before you try and get them, and search up their colour combos on the ah. Who knows, maybe they'll be there! It means less breeding for you when they are and all you'll have to do is gene them up a bit!

I have a mixture of fan derg variations There are a few fan dergs that I searched for. Like my Arcanine, Shiny Arcanine, and Growlithe. Now Arcanine was the first and I think was the perfect representation. But when I searched for Growlithe her colors are a little darker but if they were a real creature, I’m sure the shades would be different too so it doesn’t bother me. Now some people have asked why I didn’t use tiger but the falcon gives broader stripes that seem to match better. His outfit isn’t based on his character but he loved sailing as a hatchling and since my lair has Viking’s I wanted to give him something so he isn’t naked. As a derg he is part of the homunculi subspecies with arcane eyes. But when he uses his power, electricity appears so the apparel was perfect in my opinion. @SaltyGhost he's a very pretty dragon! Honestly I wish I had the patience for those long term projects but I get so excited over these dragons I just end up with the closest existing possibility ahah

@Nephilym I think that Xanxus works really well! Might not have 100% accurate colors but it certainly has that Xanxus vibe :) I don't really know much about Baccano but I think if you give python to that boy you might get a closer color? Python does tend to make light colors pretty dark so it might work!
