i think a lot of genes naturally suit earth flight, cause there's so much variety in stone! personally, i love the look of giraffe/hex and ripple/current for earthy dragons. reminds me of cracked, dried up mud or basalt formations:
certain colors of poison/toxin and python/morph can look like sandstone, jasper, or agate:
tapir/striation can look like layers of sedimentary bedrock, or marble/granite:
and then crystal/facet/opal are obviously earth-based genes (bonus clown. it's a divisive gene, but in this instance it looks like stone, or a pebble-ridden sandy beach):
this last one treads a line between earth and wind aesthetics, but bar/safari is a good combination for a weathered rock look:
and i don't have an example, but crackle and ringlets can look like moss and lichen on stone if you have a near xxy with earthy primary/secondary and dark/muted green tertiary

When I think of ice genes, I usually go straight for crystal and facet, thought I know that they're somewhat unpopular. They just really give off that icy aesthetic to me, like these guys

Though a cheaper alternative could be genes like tapir and striation, since they give off that sort of snowdrift effect. Same with piebald and paint, since it throws some white onto any color, kinda mimicking snowcover on the ground.
As for terts, white/ice gembond creates this sort of snowball effect on some dragons, though I know gembond is kinda divisive. Ghost is also fun since it gives off that "Fortress of Ends" vibe of creatures trapped in the ice.

Coming from wind I would say...
for primaries:
laced, because it looks like feathers that are ruffled by the wind, and petals for a similar reason, you can imagine them falling from trees on a windy day
for secondaries:
trail, it reminds me of the strips of fabric on kites, or ribbon dancers. I would also say bee, although Im not sure why, it just feels delicate and makes me think of wind chimes made out of old pieces of colored glass
tertiaries:
firefly, again I just associate flying insects with the breeze
and probably for obvious reasons I like smoke for wind

or for something different, wasp, bee and opal could also work! wasp and bee because of stormcatchers kinda insectlike look, and opal just because when i think of places opals are found i think of lightning ridge

Hey shades (and ex-shadowling)-
What do you think about these designs for my Shadow pair? I'm pretty sold on the first one and she's mostly gened already (only have to get pinstripe).

For this one, he still needs a secondary and tertiary (and I really want to put Multi-Gaze on him if I can somehow). Here was my original plan:

But going off of your suggestions, I'm also thinking of one of these:

I'd love any notes or thoughts you have! Bonus points if they're only suggestions for the genes that are still basic, but feel free to show me other combos if you come up with something that really stands out.
These two are intended to be a breeding pair so I want their genes to produce nice shadowy combos in their kids, too.

I feel like there are a lot of genes for water that are usually thought of.
Some uncommonly used primaries that come to mind are: Jupiter, lionfish, python
Secondaries: hypnotic, morph, Saturn
Tertiaries: capsule, filigree, ghost, glimmer, smirch

Nature children, what do you think about these two? If I need to find a new male I guess I can, but I'd like to make him work if I can

@ScalyMaiden Oooo, I love the yellows on both the wildclaws, but personally speaking the purples and blues seem a little out of place. Either way, they're both very pretty so if you like it go for it! ;D
