Then after a stifling bout of silence, she greets his father with a mother's embrace and a soft whisper in his ear. Despite this, her eyes are sharp with an unreadable emotion, trained ahead on Hawthorn himself. His father is proud of him, of course, and headbutts him gently to give his affection, but his attention returns to Katar, who he nods outside to with a nervous smile. He needs to talk; if a warning had been sent, it had not arrived. He trusts his parents not to gut his eldest child on his livingroom floor at least.
