He is a self taught Curse user but learned most of the prerequisite knowledge from his foster mother. He is actually more like a demon inhabiting the body of a dead Pearlcatcher, but I am counting it. He is very old, at least as old as the Arcanist possibly. His memory from that time is a little foggy. He ended up between realms, asleep for many thousands of years. When he woke up, he was cast back into Sornieth, which drove him pretty mad. Now he is blindly seeking power, if not to control everything then to never lose anything ever again. He is not exactly a cheery fellow himself though. He's got the manners of a polite badger. As polite as a badger can be at least. He's kind of a terrible person, but he tries. There's something about him that he needs to hide through his harsh exterior and through various liquids only available to those of proper age. He doesn't want to take those risks. Through ancient but evidently not forgotten, knowledge from the thousands of individuals' memories crammed into his head, he has been able to create souls inside of items. He has been given the Nickname "Father of Spirits" for this.

I vastly prefer the female lineart as well, I'm sort of indifferent towards the male one. Still... I have two at the moment with plans for a third, so I guess they're growing on me?
