A Father's Gift
Written by Fantivity

Eion was a black starry dragon, born under a rare blue moon. He had a special connection to the night sky, and could sense the movements of the stars and planets. He was fascinated by the mysteries of the cosmos, and often wondered what secrets they held.

He lived in a secluded mountain cave, away from the prying eyes of humans and other dragons. He preferred solitude and silence, spending his time studying the ancient scrolls and books he had collected over the centuries. He was a master of magic and astrology and could cast powerful spells using his starry breath.
One night, he felt a strange pull in his heart. He looked up at the sky and saw a full moon shining brightly. He knew it was a sign of something important, something that would change his life forever. He decided to leave his cave and fly towards the source of the attraction.

He reached a hidden valley, where he saw a beautiful starry dragoness resting by a lake. She had scales that shimmered like moonlight and eyes that sparkled like diamonds. She looked up at him and smiled, and he felt a surge of love and admiration. He landed beside her and introduced himself.

She said her name was Harvest and that she was a Spirit. She said she had been waiting for him, for she had seen him in her dreams. She said they were destined to have a nest, She said she wanted to be his one-time mate and bear his children.

Eion was overjoyed, and agreed to her proposal. They stayed together for many days, enjoying each other’s company and exploring the valley. They were happy and content, despite knowing it wouldn’t last.

Several weeks later, born under a blue moon just like their father 4 dragonets were born. Eion was proud and amazed, for he never expected one of his nests to be born under an unexpected full moon like he was.

As Tradition said wanting to give them a special gift: a tarot card that would symbolize their personality and destiny. He used his magic under the light of the blue moon to draw 4 random cards from the bag his parents gave him, He was curious to see what the cards would reveal.

He drew the following cards:

For his daughter with Gold in her wings he drew the Star, This card represented hope, faith, inspiration, and optimism. It meant that she would have a bright future ahead of her, full of possibilities and opportunities. She would be a creative and visionary dragoness, who would use her talents to make the world a better place.

For his only sonin the nest he drew the Empress, This card represented abundance, fertility, nature, and nurturing. It meant that he would have a rich and fulfilling life, full of love and joy. He would be a compassionate and handsome dragon, who would care for others and the environment.

For his daughter with red in her wings , he drew The moon. This card represented intuition, dreams, illusions, and mystery. It meant that she would have a mysterious and intriguing life, full of secrets and surprises. She would be an intuitive and imaginative dragon, who would explore the hidden realms of the mind and soul.

For his last daughter who was blessed by the Flamecaller,he drew the sun, This card represented success, happiness, vitality, and enlightenment. It meant that she would have a glorious and triumphant life, full of achievements and recognition. She would be a confident and charismatic dragoness, who would shine like the sun in everything she did.

Eion was pleased with the cards he drew for his children. He gave them each their card as a token of his love and guidance. He told them to cherish their gifts, for they would help them discover their true selves and their purpose in life.
He hugged them all and kissed Harvest. He thanked her for giving him the greatest gift of all: a family and that he’d never forget her. He told them he loved them more than anything in the world.

They all smiled back at him and said they loved him too before Harvest returned to the realm of Spirits to always watch over them.

How the Game Works

It's a mystery, make your own story game (or games). You follow the clues to solve the mystery. This is not a monitored game and it doesn't really award any prizes. This is about enjoying a mystery and perhaps becoming inspired to write lore for your dragon.

The Quick List of How This Works:
 • This is a read-and-click game. There will be many images to help you make your choices along the way, but most of the work will be reading the clues and listening to (or reading) the dialogue. Once you have your choice click the link to move to the next part.
 • It is highly recommended you do not open each link on another tab. Just jump link to link. This not only helps with the game's immersion but keeps your browser from getting cluttered with open tabs.
 • It is also recommended that you not skip through the thread. Not only is that cheating, but it will be confusing. The game will not be in order and skipping to places you are not supposed to be can be disorientating.
 • There will be fights in some of the missions. You can lose a fight! However, you cannot die. It will lead to a bad ending though.
 • If you get a bad ending you can start over. Though, it is from the beginning.
 • There are several different endings, but only one good ending. A good ending is a successful mission and will be rewarded with level points and Explorers Club Currency (ECC).
 • There can be rewards for a successful mission. However, they are not real Flight Rising items. No prizes will be given out. All rewards will be usable only for the Explorer's Club game.

The Rules:
 • Please do not post on any of the mission threads. If you should have questions or would like to discuss the game with other players, please feel free to put those in the tavern. You can also PM me with any questions. Thank you!
 • Please be kind to one another and follow all Flight Rising guidelines while using their forums.
 • You can roleplay if you wish, but please do not expect other players to do so. This is not a roleplaying game and people are welcome to respond how they are comfortable.

 • If you have a question for a specific character (i.e. Jevin, Narie, Tyra, a mission giver, etc), please include their name with the question.
 • When answering questions, I will do so as one of my characters because that maintains the illusion of the game. Please do not think you will have to communicate the same way. To reiterate, this is not a roleplaying game. Everyone is encouraged to communicate in the way they are most comfortable.
 • Please be patient with me. It takes time to respond and I promise I am getting to you. Now, with that said, sometimes I do miss things. If I have not responded in a couple day's time, please re-ping me or PM me to get my attention.
 • If you are reporting a problem with the game please be sure to ping me. Also, please include as much detail about the issue as possible. I thank you for your aid.
 • The tavern starts after this post. Please feel free to post below.

--TRAINING GROUNDS DIALOGUE IMAGE 2TG2b-- Now, I know what you are thinking: "But Captain, what does RNG have to do with dialogue?" Good question, let me tell you. During certain interactions, you will be able to perform certain abilities to move the interaction forward. You will be asked to roll for persuasion, stealth, and combat. --TRAINING GROUNDS DIALOGUE IMAGE 3TG2c-- Now we will discuss combat and stealth in detail in another lesson-- if you haven't learned it already-- and for now we're going to focus on persuasion. Cailan stares blankly at the player with an ... in the box.
--TRAINING GROUNDS DIALOGUE IMAGE 15TG2n--
You did it on the first try?! Wow! You are good at this. Most new bloods fail horribly, but you are off to a good start. Let me explain that reward you just earned.
--TRAINING GROUNDS DIALOGUE IMAGE 16TG2o--
If you take a look at your sweet roll, you will notice that it has a bonus assigned to it. In this case for persuasion. When you need to roll for persuasion again, just use your sweet roll and add the bonus to the number the RNG pulled for you. This will significantly increase your odds of winning a roll. Don't worry if you go over the highest number, that just means you have an automatic success.

2nd Attempt Success
--TRAINING GROUNDS DIALOGUE IMAGE 17TG2p--
Well, that is so sweet of you to notice. I paid a visit to Lila yesterday and she does this thing that just makes my feathers shimmer. I highly recommend if you are looking for a relaxing spa day. Here, take this for being so nice...
--TRAINING GROUNDS DIALOGUE IMAGE 18TG2q--
Image of a sweet roll, as above, titled sweet roll. The item tag below will be like the cookie, except for the sweet roll.
--TRAINING GROUNDS DIALOGUE IMAGE 19TG2r--
Ha! I knew you could do it. Congratulations. Did you notice that your sweet roll has a bonus just like the cookie did? It might not be as high, but it is still useful when making a roll, so make sure to keep it on you until you need it.

Everyone collides together again

--TRAINING GROUNDS DIALOGUE IMAGE 20TG2s--
It is helpful to keep all bonus items close at hand when you go on a mission. They do stack and they will vastly improve your chances of success. And don't worry too much if you fail a roll, yes they can lead towards a bad path, but most interactions lead to more choices that can bring you back to a good path.
--TRAINING GROUNDS DIALOGUE IMAGE 21TG2t--
Thankfully, most interactions while on missions are decision-made and do not require a roll. Remember to pay close attention to the details and mind the decisions you make, because that is what determines if you succeed or fail.

Well then, I believe you are ready to head to the next lesson. What would you like to learn next?

What would you like to learn next?

 • I suppose reading a mission would be a good place to start. T2DD- TG1
 • Let's get right to the combat! T3FB- TG3
 • So what is this leveling thing you have going on? What is the purpose of leveling? T2DD- TG4
 • Uh, pay and rewards please! T2DD- TG5
 • That's it, I've learned everything I need to know and finished all of the training! T1M- TG6

Your scent lingering in the air like flowers bloomed in your wake and your laughter ringing through the lair on storytelling days. Watching you shoot your crossbow until you stopped missing a mark, the twang as the string reset. Those days we spent together have become my most cherished moments, and I think of them so much I wonder if I'm faking the details or simply loving them past my minds limits. At times I find myself so angry, so filled with rage at you for leaving the clan, for putting an end and drawing a line at last, but instead of fueling me with its buoyant, tender bubble of stability it leaves me in a melancholy I cannot explain. Even to see you scowl would be a treasure greater than all the wealth in the world. “If you still lived here, I could catch glimpses of you and remind myself of my anger. Does heartache grow smaller, or does everything else grow bigger, until heartache is as distant a memory as our first days? “If you ever decide to come back, I fear I will still be waiting.” The envelope is creased and worn, with no address besides Sabrina's name. This torn and dirty letter is her most treasured possession, kept through the years of harsh living and taking up its own spot in her limited space. But beyond that significance, its the only clue to her past she keeps around. She certainly won't speak of by-gone days, boring a steel-eyed hole into whoever dares bring up the question, and yet has kept this one reminder around since she showed up at a tavern years ago, bedraggled and clutching the loaded crossbow at her hip. More letters have made their way to her, delivered by uneasy messengers who leave without waiting for a reply. Sometimes they are tossed directly into the closest fire. Other times she reads them first. She'll habitually take her precious letter and reread it while the newest ones smolder away to nothingness. Whatever life she left, she wants to take back. For now, she hunts, clean shots lining up in her prey like a singular bolt flew through them all. And while the dragoness she was reveals herself in kindness and clean manners, a cold wall protects her heart with zeal. She is quick to snap at anyone attempting to befriend her, biting the hands trying to feed her like they offered poison instead of a free drink, and only keeps company as numb as she is, or more. Every debt must be repaid as soon as possible, whether its return is a black eye or a fresh pelt and stew meat. Until the day she can return to her past, that will have to do.
