Current Lore- Wild Orchard Arc 1: Arcane Nightmares, Chapter 3
Genna crouched out of sight in the undergrowth, still as a held breath, ears pricked. Behind her, much smaller and easier to hide, waited her companion
Scorch. Together the two of them were a terrifying team, and they both knew it.
A loud crack of breaking branches sounded in the distance, followed the rustle of leaves shoved roughly aside. Genna dug her claws into the loam and tensed. Any second now-
A blur of bright colors over ivory skin bolted by as
Brocade, the clan's renowned bait who had the ability to tick off seemingly any opponent into chasing him, streaked through the clearing ahead. A jagged spire of pink and purple crystal sprouted out of the ground right behind his heels as the enemy tried to trip him.
And then there it was, a smallish, dark colored dragon with bright splashes of magenta for eyes screaming after him, white teeth shining in the dappled light. Genna sprang.
The world went blistering, searing pink.
All Genna could think of was how she needed to catch the intruder, needed to sink in her teeth and snare in her claws, had to catch it and tear it to pieces. The air filled with strange wailing noises and she lashed out against it blindly, chomping, slashing, furiously trying to defend herself from this confusing pink world filled with eerie wailing and grasping claws.
Minutes that seemed like hours went by before the pink glare faded and she realized that the weird noise was Scorch, yelling at her to stop. The grasping claws snatching at her fur were nothing but leaves and twigs. And the enemy? Long fled. Genna staggered and shook herself, swore loudly.
"I think you would have gone after me if I was close enough," Scorch said warily, tilting her frilled head with a look of deep skepticism. "Are you sure you're ok now?"
"Fine now. But-"
The sound of someone coming cut them both off. Brocade stuck his head into the clearing, jewelry glinting in the dappled light. "Well? It broke off from chasing me, but you didn't get it?"
Genna heaved a sigh, starting to feel warm embarassment gather under her fur. She cleared her throat. "Well, at least we learned another trick it can do, now. Best to warn everyone."
