Haran has always had a competitive streak. Play fights as a child made her realize that when she grew up she wanted to be a warrior for real, and she trained hard so she would be ready.

The thing was... she was born in the lands of Shadow, and Shadow does love its tricks. Traps, poison, slippery tactics, backstabbing. There wasn't much place for a warrior who just wanted to rush in and hit things, and it drove her crazy. One day she decided that if she lost one more fight because the opponent pulled some clever trick instead of fighting her straightforwardly she was going to call it quits and leave- and then, of course, exactly that happened. So she packed her bags and headed out.

When she found the Wild Orchard, with its cut and dry need to defend itself from dark magic and enraged wild animals, it was like heaven. She knew she was home.

Oh, and the sword? That's right, a Shadow dragon with a Light sword. Why not? It's the last thing the opponent expects, and she covers all her bases by having access to both opposing elements.
