Biography

Magne
Magne is yet another Stormchild hatched to Heitor and Anasa, and frankly, being the third of their hatchlings and the fourth of their descendants to be a Stormchild, the novelty of it has worn off. Heitor and Anasa have already dealt with the miracle of Sadira, the panic about Gearshift, and the radiation sickness from Pilane, and Magne is nothing they haven't already seen before. It seems they didn't have the attention span nor the love left for another Stormchild. So after the initial celebration for his hatching, Magne was largely left to his own devices, without his parents' adoring love.

In his loneliness, Magne took to experimenting with his own primal, rampant magic, and with the amount of metal and inventions and spare parts laying strewn throughout the lair, he quickly found that his magic was exceptional at magnetizing things. Any metal parts he touched would become magnetized and quickly begin sticking to other metal pieces, as well as to Magne himself.

Magne was incredibly fascinated by this, and chose to focus his life on studying magnets and electromagnetism. He loves experimenting with the extent of what his own Lightning magic can do in terms of magnetizing, and finding out where his limits lie. He's very intrigued by how his magic does this, when the other Stormchildren don't have the same experiences. He also enjoys experimenting with things like polarity and the potential practical uses of magnets.

His experiments in practical usage of magnets tend to be the things that endanger him the most. Magne tends to be too curious for his own good in the first place, but when his tests and experiments are the most likely to end with him getting hurt. Notably, everyone remembers the sound of the crunch that was heard throughout the entire lair on the day he tried to combine an electromagnet with a hydraulic press. He was lucky that the combined efforts of all the healers were enough to save his tail, and his tail has a strange kink in it to this day.

The most common type of injury Magne faces is, luckily, notably less severe. Usually, he just ends up frying himself with his own magic. He is a frequent patient of Banshe's, and the two have formed an odd friendship just from the amount of times he's found himself on her exam table. She's been the one to patch up his fur on the many, many occasions it's burnt off. That's why his fur looks so different than it did from when he hatched; he's burnt it off so many times that it's grown in differently.

But despite focusing all his attention on his studies and experiments with magnets, Magne still craves the attention of his parents so desperately. He knows he's not as much of a novelty as Sadira was, not in as much danger as Gearshift was, and not as much of a danger to others as Pilane is, and he knows Pilane already has enough trouble seeking their parents' love. But despite bonding with Pilane over not receiving Heitor and Anasa's love, he still desperately seeks their approval, and hopes one day he'll do something important and special enough with his magnets to attract their attention.

Magne is banned from Cadfael's workshop because he keeps unintentionally magnetizing Cadfael's inventions and causing chaos. Not just the little inventions, either. The particular incident that got him banned trapped Livewire and Elektra together. Perhaps his magnetism will save him if Cadfael comes for him. Or perhaps he'll end up stuck to the greatest threat to his life, moreso than himself.
