Elektra

A complex and intricate robotic construct built and programmed by Cadfael to serve as his assistant, with unwavering loyalty to him and no others. Elektra is an extremely elaborate android whose inner workings baffle everyone except Cadfael himself. Cadfael built her as a laboratory assistant, and she does her duty to the T; nothing and no one can distract her from it.

As such, of course Elektra is Cadfael’s right-hand dragon, as much of a dragon as you can consider her. Cadfael has always trusted his machines more than he has trusted other dragons, after all. “A machine can only do as it is ordered to,” he says. “A living, breathing creature has nuance, and feelings.” Elektra is one of the few dragons who support and encourage of Cadfael’s plans for revolution, and one of the even fewer who realize the extent of his plans.

The only time Elektra has acted outside of her orders is in regards to her adoptive daughter, Arashi. It was Elektra who found Arashi as an abandoned hatchling, on the brink of death, and took her to Cadfael with the kindest words anyone has ever heard from her cold, metal tongue: “Please fix her.” And Cadfael, too shocked to respond, did so, and repaired Arashi the only way he knew how — with his machines, giving Arashi new life as a half-robot, half-dragon cyborg. Arashi and Elektra have been as inseparable as any mother-and-daughter pair ever since.

Cadfael has programmed Elektra to go to the ends of Sorneith for him. And of course, it is her duty, so she will follow. With Arashi by her side and her programming echoing in her ears.
