Biography

Ealga

Wanderer

Biography
Eartheria was the oldest of their three-dragon litter. They hatched as an aberration in the heart of the ice domain as a hatchling of two fire dragons. Their mind was split between the two heads; the two-eyed head was capable of conscious thoughts and was the one to do the speaking while the three-eyed head processed the subconscious thoughts and was in charge of eating. The two were two sides of the whole and got along perfectly. Eartheria’s siblings enjoyed living in the Fortress and decided to stay in there serving their deity while Eartheria themselves wanted to go explore the world. They left their home during wind’s holiday and once they had reached Reclaimer's Glacier they joined the festivities of a clan that resided there. They spent few days in there before they decided to continue their travels. They travelled past the Cloudscrape Crags and eventually they reached the Snowsquall Tundra. From there few of the landmarks of the greater world were easily seen; the Cloudsong on the north-east and the Observatory directly to the north. Eartheria was not particularly good at fishing and before they reached the Frigid Floes they had stopped to hunt. The Tundra had nice amount of plants and animals when compared to the frigid lands to the south and they were able to spot few reindeer. The herd was able to keep their distance from the hunting dragon and Eartheria was starting to grow frustrated, and hungry. They tried to approach the animals but always one of them noticed them and they were able to get away. After countless of attempt Eartheria eventually spotted their chance; a lone reindeer away from the herd. It was a beautiful animal with magnificent antlers and glossy fur that was borderline golden. They managed to sneak closer before the animal noticed them, and after they were close enough they attacked. The reindeer tried to escape but Eartheria had gotten close enough and during the sprint they were able to reach the animal. After it had been taken down they feasted on it and once that was done they found a cave to sleep in. Heavy hits on the heads woke Eartheria up in the middle of the night. After the two heads had managed to wake up enough to know where they were they noticed a figure stand on the entrance of the cave holding the staff that had been used to hit them. They did not say anything but it was clear they were very angry about something. Eartheria’s two-eyed head tried to ask if they had taken over their nest and apologized for that. That though was not the issue. The figure, clearly a dragon, threw a reindeer head in front of the two heads and asked if they had done that. The head belonged to the reindeer the two had eaten. The three-eyed head nodded as an answer and the aberration was pulled out the cave and thrown to the snow by magic. The mage was very angry that they had hunted down their priced reindeer. The two-eyed head tried to calm down the situation but the mage was not accepting apologies. They swore Eartheria would never hunt again, not feast again, would never find a place they could call home and would never remember what crime they had committed or who they had been when they had done that. Eartheria lost their consciousness once the mage was done with their curse. ![]() They woke up in the middle of a snowy field confused. They had no idea who they were, where they were or what had happened. Only hint they had was a staff that was lying on the ground next to them and on it hang a lantern with ever-burning candle. They got up slow and steady with the help of the staff, their body felt rigid but they felt no pain. No one was near to give them answers, the answers that they didn’t think they needed to know. They walked towards a road, slow and steady. There they stopped to sit on a frozen rock watching as the travelers walked by. They felt fear when they saw them, but that made them feel nothing; it felt normal. They sat there watching for few days feeling weird yearning whenever they saw a group of dragons walk by. As the days passed by another feeling started to grow within them, a feeling of being trapped. They got up from the rock and decided to walk forward the feeling going away as they walked farther and farther away from it. After a short journey they had decided to stop on a small iceberg. From there they saw a group of dragons look for something in the snow. They were not locals; they had arrived from the north. One of them noticed them and he had stopped to look at the creature keeping an eye on the group from the distance. He seemed scared of them but they were able to feel other sources of unease within his mind. The group returned to the north and staring to feel trapped again they followed them wanting give the uneasy one some support. They teleported past the Frigid Floes to the magical land of the arcane. There they followed the scent of the group to the less populated area on the west. There they followed a path marked with statues until it led them to the clan in the middle of a wood. The residents were celebrating water flight and they found themselves a place to follow the dragons enjoy themselves. Their presence was noticed soon and the residents became wary of them. First a snapper wearing a heavy helmet came to check them, he was followed by a guardian with a small beard before a wildclaw with an antler-decorated crown came to meet them. They greeted everyone of them with a nod. The snapper had been called Kronk and the guardian was called Trooper. Unlike the two, whose names they had learned by listening others talk to them, the priestess introduced herself by saying she was Kupari. She greeted them, and though she seemed confident and nice they were able to sense she felt uneasy like everyone else. She asked who the visitor was and what their name was, and while they were able to tell they were a friend they sadly had no answer to give to the name question. They decided to take a name from the surrounding area as it was the easiest solution and they pointed a unicorn statue they had eyed since arriving to the clan. Apparently it was called “Ealga”. Something in that name felt familiar though they could not pinpoint what it was. It though felt like a good name and they decided to start calling themselves “Ealga”. They pointed themselves to tell they were “Ealga” and nodded when the priestess asked if she had understood the signs right. Kupari was silent for a moment before she told the guardian spirit allowed them to use the name and she continued by asking what they did in the clan. Ealga could not talk and so they communicated by writing to the ground. It was slow and to keep things simple they just told they wandered. It was not true but they assumed the one they wanted to help would not have appreciated if they had been honest. The priestess asked how long Ealga was planning to stay and they told a few days. The priestess took a good look at Ealga before turning around and telling the clan that they were not a threat. The clan returned to their festivities and Ealga stayed where they had been watching them celebrate. Later that night the dragon who Ealga had followed sneaked closer. He checked if anyone was nearby, no one was beside the little gossip digger who had kept an eye on them since afternoon, and he took a final step towards the wanderer before half-accusing half-asking if they had followed him. Ealga nodded as an answer. The skydancer asked why and Ealga wrote “unease” to the ground. That confused the mage and Ealga asked him to sit next to them. The mage was unsure about that but eventually gave in. Ealga waited that the mage would gain some confidence to talk to them, mostly for his sake. Eventually he asked if Ealga knew any spells, they knew few. After a long silence the mage asked if they knew how to oppose someone who might be using them, considering they didn’t seem to be able to talk. Ealga nodded before signing how to stand up without saying a word. The mage said they made it look easy. Ealga told him to trust himself, he was a capable mage. The mage laughed at that before changing a topic. They pointed out how funny it was that they had picked a name after a constellation because he was named after one as well; his name was Orion. If they could have laughed they had done so. An elderly tundra Kaamos joined the two after that curious of what Orion did with Ealga. The mage told he had just wanted some peace and quiet and the tundra sat on the other side of Ealga. He was likewise nervous but had gained some courage just in case the younger dragon was in danger with the visitor. Ealga admired Kaamos’ care for hatchlings even after they had grown up and they greeted the tundra with a nod before turning attention back to the celebration. The three watched as the more extroverted dragons enjoyed the party in calming silence until the Sun started to rise. The two dragons decided to leave and as they were doing so Ealga signed Orion that while he might not believe in himself, they believed in him. The mage smiled as an answer. The next afternoon few residents had come to decorate Ealga’s antlers with flowers saying that made them look less scary. They watched the celebration for that night and listened the few residents that had come to hang out with them out of curiosity. After the night was over they had started to feel like becoming trapped again and they had decided to continue travelling. They decided to wander to the wind domain and would have gone even farther if the weather had not been so hot beyond that point. Ealga decided to continue wandering the three regions on the west as they were unable to stay still for long. During that they met plenty of clans some of which accepted them as their visitor like the clan on the west side of the arcane isles had done. They decided to come visit them again when their travels brought them back to those areas hoping the regular visits would make them less anxious of them. ![]() |

Traits
Ealga is an oddity who doesn’t quite match any of the dragon breeds, but their overall size, wing shape and sparse white tail tuft make the pearlcatcher the closest match. They are a bipedal hunched over creature who has a reindeer skull with impressive antlers in place of a head. In the eye sockets small white pupilless floating irises can be seen. Their neck is short and always kept compressed to keep the bare bones hidden. The main body is white in color and has white dots which create an illusion of rotting skin. The skin though feels relatively healthy when touched and doesn’t smell anything at all. Ealga’s body temperature seems to always be colder than the environment when the weather is warm while during cold weather it is warmer. Their wings are small and ragged to the point of making flying unfeasible and identifying the pattern on them is likewise too difficult. Their tail is short and seems to be paralyzed causing it to drag on ground whenever Ealga walks. Their legs have dark split hooves and on the arms they have long dark and sharp claws that can be used to write on paper the drawn line seeming similar to that of charcoal. Ealga’s moves are always quite slow which makes them appear incredibly old. Ealga has a very simple attire. They wear a ragged white cloak with furry collar which hides their neck, legs, most of the arms and base of the tail. They have a short walking stick with an ever-lit lantern hanging from it on which they lean on when standing or walking. On their wings they have branches of berries including winterberry and berries from cranberry family. All the berries are edible and red in color and Ealga may offer them as snacks to whoever comes to spend time with them. At times they may take part on different types of events and as part of that they may allow their antlers to be decorated which usually means bells on the front branches of the antlers and flags on the back branches. Those decorations though are temporary as even if they were left on the antlers they will fall off when Ealga moves to the new place. Ealga has no vocal cord and thus they are incapable of speaking. They can open their jaw to make clacking sound but they do that so rarely that one is more likely to win in a raffle twice. Instead of voice Ealga uses their body to communicate either by using the movement of the head or the arm right one being used more often. They can also use their claws to write on paper, and if that is not available they can also write on the ground. Their movements are generally slow and to not waste their company’s time their answers are usually very short, one to three words long, and the words themselves are usually as short as possible. Though their speech appears rather primitive they clearly understand the more complex words, and the shortcuts they tend to use should not be used to determine their understanding capabilities. ![]() Despite of their frightening look Ealga is friendly and gentle. They wander around due to the curse placed upon them, a curse that causes them to feel more and more trapped the longer they stay in one place, but when they are able to stop for a moment they enjoy to sit down to watch what others are doing. The curse nulls most of their emotions which in a sense is a blessing in disguise as it keeps them from feeling lonely, different or unwanted which could rise to the top due to their look scaring the ones they are watching. They though are not devoid of emotions and they have strong need to protect and help when they see someone in trouble, especially a hatchling. Ealga is not aggressive and more often than not they try to use their look to scare the threat away. If that does not work, they may use their staff to smack the troublemaker or they can use their arms to take hold of the troublesome individual until they start begging for mercy. They are incapable of feeling pain, hunger, thirst or exhaustion and so they can hold as long as needed. If even that doesn’t work, they may take a life but that always makes them feel sad and disappointed and they try avoid that as long as possible. Ealga is a social creature even though they prefer to sit somewhere afar watching others have fun. They though are always happy to have visitors and they are happy to listen worries others may have. They are a good listener, partly because they can’t speak in the first place, and they are always happy to offer company, support or advice to those who seek it. They also happily take part in different kinds of events if invited and they are an avid supporter of different kinds of rights movements. They don’t tolerate discrimination, oppression or bullying of any kind and they don’t even need to be asked to stand up against them. If someone is a victim of such thing, they happily offer to help them the best they could. They are a definition of “don’t judge a book by its cover” as despite of their cold and frightening look they are very friendly and supporting in heart. Ealga doesn’t have a company that would travel with them but at times some wild animals arrive to spend time with them, mostly because they like feeding them. Especially ravens and other corvids seem to like their company and they are eager to come defend them if someone is being mean to them. Ealga is not sure why they especially are so protective of them. ![]() Ealga didn’t know much spells before being cursed but they have earned some magical gifts after the curse. Their best-known gift is the ability to teleport when no one is looking. It allows them to appear out of nowhere and it allows them to travel between domains with ease. The maximum distance is not known but it is clearly way longer than what they normally travel. Along with that Ealga has an ability to read minds and sense emotions though it remains mostly hidden to the creatures they interact with. Those skills are usually noticed from how hard they are to trick and how well they can give tailored advice to those who seek it. Along with some helpful gifts Ealga is also able to freeze others if they so wish. They need to point their finger to cast the spell but due to their lack of facial features the target is usually unable to realize what they are doing before it is too late. The heart is usually the first one to freeze followed by the rest of the body from inside to the outside. The process is fast and relatively painless. Since being cursed Ealga has basically become an undead. Their senses have remained mostly as they were while living outside of touch which has severely dulled and taste that is totally gone. They are incapable of feeling exhaustion, hunger, thirst or pain and as such they don’t sleep, eat or drink nor do they need to worry about being attacked or being affected negatively by the weather, especially cold. They are resilient to all kinds of weather though too hot of an air does cause them to feel weak as if they were melting even though they are not made out of ice and thus can’t melt for real. Their emotions have dulled as well and they are totally incapable of feeling lonely, unwanted, different, accomplished, happy or excited. They are able to feel sad, disappointed, angry, proud, tender and content though those feelings are quite mild when compared to when they were alive. As an undead being Ealga is able to see ghosts but they can’t communicate with them nor can the spirits see them. |
