流氷 -> ryūhyō (Japanese). Meaning: drift ice.
- Abandoned in the Frigid Floes and found by Polaris, promptly adopted and given a name
- May or may not have abandonment issues
- Incredibly loyal to Polaris & protective, follows her around most places and likes ominously looming behind her. She doesn't have the heart to tell him that they're more scared of her.
- Has a soft spot for hot chocolate
- Formerly a Pearlcatcher, accidentally touched a breed change scroll
- Likes woodcarving
- Keeps his pearl on a shelf in his room, stays in Hiems Manor

31 ROR 40295 (Tue) - Frigid Floes, night time, setting up camp in a decent cave we found.

Kosetsu asked why the Floes were so cold. I asked him to clarify; he said he had read that the Floes are "positively balmy" compared to the other subregions of the Southern Icefield. Told him that it's mostly the wind chill (caused by perpetually strong sea breezes) so it feels arguably colder than the Snowsquall Tundra.

Kosetsu's also asking if the rumour about the 'snow ghost' wandering the Floes is real - to my knowledge no, since a bunch of dragons made it up (blizzards making doors rattle + wish fulfillment etc = ghost dragon). Asked him why, he said he could hear someone crying nearby and it didn't sound like a blizzard... hold on.

...

...apparently his hearing is sharper than mine. Found a baby Pearlcatcher abandoned in the snow (don't think they're a mythological spirit, at least), brought them back to the cave. They've been huddling by the fire and they've drank half my hot chocolate supply.

Kosetsu asked me if I was going to adopt them. ...I think we all know the answer.

32 ROR 40295 (Wed) - Ice-Arcane border, morning.

Gave the PC more hot chocolate. When about to leave the cave, they wouldn't stop clinging onto me. Told them they could come along if they wished; they literally jumped at the opportunity. So now I have another adopted child, I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Named them Ryuhyo. Hopefully we can get to at least Arcane territory proper before the sun sets.

"Phorcys," Polaris greets the hulking Guardian, who in turn gives her a wary nod. Good to see that she still has her edge.

"Everwinter."

The reception from Begonia isn't nearly as warm, but she's not surprised. The two of them have never really gotten along, anyway.

There's a flash, and all three Archmages look over in mild bemusement. Ryuhyo looks back at them, though Polaris assumes his confusion is much more pronounced. After all, it's not every day one accidentally touches a Breed Change Scroll. The fact that he's basically tripled in size doesn't really help; she imagines that the body dysmorphia must be quite severe.

"...well, at least we have confirmation that the scrolls work," Phorcys says.

"That's your takeaway?"

Adapting to his new body is... not easy, to say the least. There's the lack of legs to contend with, plus the extra pairs of wings and the conundrum of how to even get off the ground in the first place, which means that he's left flailing around on the ground while Phorcys goes to get Skiron.

The green Spiral blinks. "What did you say this was caused by again?"

"Breed Change Scroll."

There's a pause.

"I don't have any more Pearlcatcher ones; he'll probably have to stay like this for a while. We're fortunate he's still mostly fine."

What was formerly the largest guest room in Hiems Manor is currently undergoing a renovation, courtesy of Melo and Fubuki. The wallpaper has been replaced with one with a floral pattern, the furniture has been changed to ones that suit his stature (though it looks like much of it was repurposed from Hatsuyuki's things), and his pearl has been placed in one of the display cabinets along with what looks like one of Ritto's ice statues.
