Frostbite Hummingbird
大寒 -> dàhán (Chinese), daikan (Japanese). Meaning: Severe cold / Most frigid (literal). The coldest part of the year and the 24th solar term, it begins around 20 January and ends around 4 February. It begins when the Sun reaches the celestial longitude of 300° and ends when it reaches the longitude of 315°. It more often refers in particular to the day when the Sun is exactly at the celestial longitude of 300°.
- He's always extremely cold to the touch, even in the height of summer. He tends to get sick around the summer solstice (but it doesn't happen every year). He's so cold that non-Ice dragons he comes in contact with are instantly burned by his chill, getting terrible frostbite if they touch him for more than a second.
- Loves ice cream. LOVES it.
- On a lighter note, he loves snow because he thinks it's actually just a really bland flavour of ice cream. Is determined to get good at snowboarding; because he's also a speed demon, he just hasn't figured out the whole "stopping" thing yet.
- Fun fact: Taisetsu's mom is Daikan's great-grandmother (through Borealis and Iclyn), which makes her his grand-aunt. Not that either of them know this.
