Walking back upstairs in order to leave Codex and his accomplices, something suddenly darts past you. It’s so fast that it catches you off guard and you almost fall down the stairwell. Luckily, Codex catches you just in time and pulls you back upright. You’re still admiring that dreamy Coatl and how he just saved you from tumbling down when the same thing rushes past you again. This time however, Codex catches it and holds it up to his face. A tiny Fae dangles in Codex’s claws. “Reepicheep, can you please not bother our guests?”, he calmly says, but the young Fae curls their head frills back and hisses in response. Codex sighs and lets the hatchling go. They size you up, and only then notice me standing behind you. “Oh, hello friend!”, they say, completely changing their composure. “My name is Reepicheep, how about you?” You try to interject, but Reepicheep seems to completely ignore you. However, they do listen when I introduce myself. “Well, I thought this would happen.”, Codex mutters, sounding obviously annoyed. “Reepicheep here absolutely will not talk to any adults, with the exception of Garff. They will talk to hatchlings though. So if you two want to interview them for your work, it has to be the little girl who does the talking.” You look at me, and I look at you, and we immediately agree to just switch places. So, this next part is written by you!

-the following is written by Oscar-

Yes, so the three of us sit down just outside of the lair, and you have handed me the transcript. I’m not as good at transcribing interviews, but I will do my best! You ask Reepicheep how they ended up with Codex and the gang, and the little Fae puffs up their frills proudly. “I followed the rats to this place, and found their leader.”, they say. “The rats showed me around the place, and taught me how to steal things, so now I sometimes join in their heists when they need someone with wings.” That’s actually pretty impressive. I say so without thinking. You agree with me though, and complement Reepicheep, who puffs up their frills even more. “Thanks! I’m a very fast flier too, so that really helps a lot.” you agree that they fly very fast, so fast that we didn’t even see them when he past us by on the stairs earlier. If Codex didn’t catch them, we wouldn’t even have known they were here. “Codex doesn’t like it when I fly so fast, but honestly, why would I be walking up and down the stairs if that’s way slower!” Reepicheep looks up at the sky. “I just really like being in the air, I think.” You look up at the sky too, and tell them that it’s fine to prefer flying over walking, but that Codex is just worried that someone might get hurt. Very responsible of you. Reepicheep sighs in response. “I know, I guess. I need to slow down when I fly past someone, but it’s pretty hard when you’re already flying so fast.” That sounds hard indeed. I wonder if he just shouldn’t be flying that fast in the first place, but both you and the Fae ignore me completely. Now I know how you feel most of the time, I guess. I’ll try to take care of you a little better.

After a moment of silence, Reepicheep speaks up again, while keeping their eyes on the sky. “You’re here because of the weird magic stuff that’s happening, right? Both of you?”, they say. You nod, and explain that there’s a team of dragons that’s trying to figure the whole thing out. And that this team is keeping the portal open for communications. Reepicheep tears their eyes away from the sky very suddenly, and looks at you. “There’s another way through.”, they say, determinedly. “I will show you.” Reepicheep gets up, and we hurry after them. All the way to the edge of the graveyard, and the apparent border of the city. There’s a small cave of some sorts, it looks like nothing out of the ordinary to me. But you, however, can see something that I cannot. “You see it, right?”, Reepicheep urges, and you nod slowly and silently. I ask you what you are seeing, but you don’t reply. Reepicheep does though, for the first time since we have met. “It’s like a tiny hole in the world, and there’s a weird place behind it. It doesn’t look like the world behind the portal, all the colors are weird and there’s things walking around that definitely are not normal.” You nod in agreement, still silent. “Sometimes I can see a cave.”, Reepicheep continues. “Only hatchlings can see this, and nobody ever comes through. At least, I have never seen anyone come through.” Since you are still silent, I thank Reepicheep for his help, and ask him if it’s okay that I relay all of this information back to the team. They nod. “I hope it helps!” I certainly hope it helps too. It’s quite the big find. You finally find your voice back, and thank Reepicheep for his time.

You’re shaken up by this whole thing I cannot see, and it’s making me quite concerned.
