In their home town, Echo wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Most days, they studied magic with their dad and on others they'd accompany their papa in the training grounds. Their life was quiet and simple but, it was the perfect pace for them. The magic of his home was...odd to say the least but it was nothing that he wasn't used to. He was more than fine growing old there. That is until his sister came to him in a panic, worried about a curse that kept them forever bound to the home they knew so well. She was set on leaving and Echo desperate to not lose his sister, he followed. Their goal was the Southern Icefields but after a near death experience at the border caused by their magic, it was evident they were destined to be trapped on the Starfall isles. Once they had recovered, the pair headed for elsewhere in the isles. During their travels in the Hoverview Vale, their magic drew the attention of the mages of the clan they stayed in. Kuri was ecstatic at the idea of training under such powerful mages and Echo was more than happy to have a proper bed for once. So they stayed and studied under Nyx and Atlas. Unlike his sister however, Echo was drawn to The Overgrowth, a place overflowing with magical energy. Though it was magic he couldn't use, he loved the feeling of the place and often stayed there when his sister was working. On one of his stays in the overgrowth, they met Leone, a mycologist who quickly stole his heart. Echo loves his new home and though he knows his sister has ambitions of something greater, he's content with the life he has now.
The first generation, the immediate children of Starbound that are most affected when leaving the land they were born, in the Arcane territories they still have some measure of power, but the farther away from their homeland they go, more of their magic is stripped, to the point of weakening their bodies and dulling the color of their eyes:: Generation 1 :: The Runaways ::
Starbound > Echo to a murky, lifeless awash pink. Some find other creative ways to survive this terrible fate, magical stones, mechanical or magical enhancements, forbidden spells that suck out the magic of others, you name it. One thing is certain tough, despite the curse they carry, these children are above all, survivors.
The longing for their home is an ever-present beast tough, that no matter what they do sit still in the back of their mind like a parasite, it's a deep ache that can only be cured finding their way back to their homeland (some counter it by making regular visits back to the Fallen Stars clan, others, embittered, resist).
