A seer's daughter shuffles tarot cards with well-practiced ease, her eyes locked onto something in the distance of the alpine plains that is too far to be seen. She is broken out of her reverie when a card slips from her deck, landing on the worn boards of her house's wooden porch. Sirene plucks the card from the ground, and frowns as she rubs the smooth surface between a finger and her thumb. The Magician card. A card representing creativity, curiosity, and trusting one's intuition; but when reversed it represents working against yourself. Sirene's eyes drift back to the plains, as she searches for something that only exists in her dreams. Intuition, huh. . .

This beast lurks in whispers, half-heard and nauseatingly encaptivating. She feeds not just on souls, but the whimpering undertones of misery and lost opportunity. She slips through the unconscious, weaving elaborate scenes to convince her victim of the futility of their dreams; only when they give up, and give in to her will entirely, does the Magician finally devour them whole. For the brave few who adapt and trust themselves, they may be able to shake off the Magician's influence and escape. bio above by Topazal
Echo came into existence more creature-of-dreams than dragon, shifting between the negative spaces of existence and watching other dragons from inside themselves. She hears what they think, the little muttering anxieties and voiceless confessions, and has only those to piece herself together from. She glides from mirror to lake-ice to armor, haunting moonlit places and eerie objects until she finds herself a feeding ground she likes. Shattered mirrors and many dreaming souls. She haunts the caravan for a time, taking mouthfuls of misery here and sips of anguished solitude there, until a light appears. A light in the shape of a dragon, calling out to her, and like any other bit of broken glass, Echo tries to catch its reflection. Does it look like this? Or this? She cannot hear the whispers in its head, and is only more intrigued. What cracks can she dig her claws into? What horrors hide at the core of all this brilliance? bio above by cinderrain |
