Memento is whatever the opposite of an exorcist is. She believes that if ghosts are so keen on staying around, and they’ve gone to all that effort to do so, then who are we the living to stop them? In fact, she admires their resolve, and so she tries to help them whenever she can.

After all, all those cursed, haunted objects that feature in ghost stories had to have come from somewhere.

She’s perfected the art of binding a lonely spirit perfectly to an object that they care about, giving them a magical anchor so that they can manifest more easily to do whatever it is they would like to do but can’t - couldn’t, before - without a physical body. Usually, she leaves the bound objects where she found them, or in the hands of a caretaker who knows who the ghost was in life.

And then one day, she meets someone who wants her to take them with her.
