We might have a problem...
“What do you mean?”
It's Lumiere...
Alga paced her library as Silver's words echoed in her mind later that same night. She felt as though icy claws gripped her heart. For the past five years, she had resented Lumiere after he told her the truth about himself: that he'd stolen the souls of other dragons to study them, eighty years ago, then ripping out a piece of his own soul and casting a sleeping spell on himself that lasted fifty years... until Alga woke him. That piece still possessed somedrake else, and if it ever returned to him...
No...how could the time be now? But if what Silver said was true, then everydrake would be in danger. And she had made a promise to Lumiere.
She would have to destroy him, to keep everydrake safe.
Tears began streaming down her face as the sudden realization crushed her. She hated what Lumiere had done to those dragons decades ago, and yet...
She paused as she passed by her window. Light from the two moons bathed her vibrant scales, and her tears stopped. Heaving a sigh, she knew what she had to do.

...
Both moons hung in the starry sky, lighting up the Sea below. Standing rigid on the roof of the island's castle, blue scales illuminated in the moonlight, was Lumiere. His yellow eyes were fixated south, and he didn't notice the other dragon approach from behind.
Alga watched the Imperial stare out across the Sea. If he knew that she was here, he didn't show it. Alga stepped closer, and she could now hear him whisper.
“...is here...” he murmured to himself.
“Lumiere?” she tried, but he didn't even turn.
“...is here...”
Alga closed her eyes, drawing in a silent breath. Opening her eyes again, she called him.
“Lumiere.”
The Imperial's trance was broken, and he shivered once. He didn't move from where he stood, except to turn his head, his eyes locking onto her own.
“Alga,” he said. “What are you doing here at this hour?”
She took another step closer, her voice softening when she spoke again. “It's a beautiful night, isn't it?” she answered.
Lumiere was quiet as he studied her, her bright scales aglow with moonlight. “Yes, it is,” he hushed.
“Both moons are full.”
Lumiere twisted his body around and moved to stand close to her, his nose nearly bumping hers. “You're the only moon in my night,” he whispered.
Alga felt her eyes begin to sting again, and Lumiere brushed away a tear with one claw. His eyes never strayed from hers, and his gentle smile banished her sorrow. “You know why I'm here,” she said softly.
“I do,” he answered. “You know the spell.”
Her eyes stung once more, but she held back her tears. Whenever Lumiere hadn't been busy training Dewlap, he'd been teaching other magic to Alga: spells that would destroy him when the time came.
“I do,” she said quietly.
“I have something for you,” Lumiere said, uncurling his claws and revealing two small blue jewels. “With this,” he began, placing the first ring on one of Alga's horns, “I promise that no dragon will come to harm.” With the second jewel, he placed it on her other horn. “And with this, no other soul will be taken.” Both gems glowed once as his vows were sealed, then grew faint.
Lumiere suddenly shivered once again, and his eyes stared intensely into hers. “Alga,” he hissed, “he is here...he's coming...” He turned his head to look south again, but Alga reached out and turned his head to face her again, their eyes locking.
“Lumiere,” she hushed, “I'm right here...stay with me...”
The Imperial blinked, but the haunted look remained. “I will,” he whispered, pressing his forehead to her own.
Neither spoke, and they gently nuzzled each other under the glow of the moons. Alga moved to stride past him, brushing her wings against his as he gazed after her. Her eyes met his once she glanced back, and she took off into the night air, and Lumiere followed her.
The chill rushed past their wings as Alga led him north, invigorating them both. They danced high in the clouds, and down to the water below, creating a mist of sea spray with the tips of their claws. The Sea mirrored the stars above, making their eyes shine. Alga led him north still, Lumiere close to her side.
Sight of a small rocky island greeted them, and they touched down, drinking in the cold Sea air. Waves crashed against the barnacled rocks, showering the two dragons and making their wings and scales sparkle.
Only the two moons witnessed their love, and only the Sea kept it secret.
