Adventure calls; beauty follows
watermidsmall.png

Uh-oh, looks like this beautiful Pearlcatcher wandered a little too far from her home lair (621782, worddragon), and now she's off to see the world!

If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could return her home, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, or to the hub if you don't want another dragon in return.

Lightning Strikes and Underground Flights
Written by SmokyDuck

After leaving the land of plague Zoe traveled to the Shifting Expanse she saw the Carrion Canyon and she smelt something weird in it so she decided to go investigate but it turns out it was a battle! Zoe asked the leader of the clan, Mandrake if she could stay and help. Mandrake said she could and she could help train dragons afterward she decided to stay a bit after getting better at fighting.

Soon enough, though, Zoe felt the urge to move. Fighting was cool and she looked so fierce doing it, but she got dirty! 'This is no way for a debutante like myself to live,' she thought as she pushed eastward. A trip to the coast would relax all those stresses away... or so she thought.

Turns out Lightning has a lot of lightning leaping around everywhere, and the static gave her the worst split ends, not to mention putting her in fear for her life! Luckily, a scout from a nearby lair found her and took her into the Laospi clan, who'd burrowed their lair underground in a sprawling warren right under the noses of the linemen on the Wiretangle Walk.

Zoe stayed with them a while, picking up travel tips from the hunters and trackers, and some beauty tips from the fabulous mother-daughter pair Didi and Sierrie ! Armed with a new conditioner and a safe way forward, Zoe thanked the Laospi and hit the sparking road again.

A Nest and a New Horizon
Written by Stormytehcat11

Zoe traveled next to the Viridian Labyrinth. Here the beauty of nature was on full display: vibrant flowers, colorful animals, picturesque waterfalls... Nature had it all! She picked up a variety of stylish apparel here. Bows, beads, decorative feathers, a satin tunic; all in a glorious pink tint to match her own natural colors.

It was not only material beauty that she found here, though, as she also attracted a suitor. The two ended up having a nest together and seemed to be full of doting love. Yet Zoe didn't like the settled life and wanted to keep exploring the world and all its wonders, much to the heartbreak of her new family.

She really enjoyed her trip and even met an inspirational dragon, however, the mud everywhere was a bit unpleasant, and after washing her new clothes, she was off to see the world once again!

Flight, Fear, and Floating Islands
Written by mxlplyx

Landing at the northernmost tip of Dragonhome, Zoe stared out over the ocean and thought to herself - "What's out there?" So, with a carefree grin, she launched from the cliff and flew away. She enjoyed the wind over her wings for the first hour, then started to get peeved when all she saw below was water by the end of the second hour.

When the third hour passed, she decided to fly back to land, but that was when she caught sight of a speck on the horizon. With renewed determination, she pursued the mystery of the unknown island for another hour. But, it was still too distant to see details.

Two more hours later and Zoe was too tired to fly, yet she had no other choice. When early evening started to darken the sky, she panicked when she realized she wasn't close enough to land on the still-barely-seen beach in the distance. And when the moon rose full and silver above her, she began to sob with fear as she understood that she would fall into the water and drown from exhaustion before she could reach any land.

Her wings cramped and as she fell from the sky, her cry of sorrow rang out over the glassy water. But, before she plummeted into the inky depths, a body caught her. "Don't worry, girlie," Prince Lharil gleefully yelled as he easily caught her on his broad back. "I've gotcha!"

Then he flew her to his home, the disappearing island that floated with the currents north of the land of Sornieth. When he reached the nameless clan, his neighbors decided to send the petite pearlcatcher back by boat, which she appreciated greatly.

A Bold Statement in Copper
Written by Festivoog

Zoe's next stop was an Arcane clan currently residing in the Lightning flight. What an interesting bunch! She took a metalworking class taught by Sonya, the artisan, and it sure wasn't easy!

Zoe created a lot of lumpy, unwearable things that could only be called jewelry if you squinted. But slowly and surely, she grew better at it. In the end she created some lovely jewelry out of copper wires and turquoise.

A bold statement! Stylish! And best of all, she had discovered a knack for jewelry crafting! Onward she went with her new skill
(and jewelry) in tow.

Gift of the Hollow
Written by Hilldigarde

Zoe’s travels eventually brought her to Roseveil Hollow, a place cloaked in mist and whispered secrets. The path was narrow and winding, and every step felt like an invitation into the unknown. She’d heard whispers of its bioluminescent fungi and hidden glades, but the real beauty lay in discovering it for herself.

In a secluded glade, she found the famed pearl roses, their petals faintly glowing under the sparse moonlight. She reached out, captivated, until she noticed Fade, the Hollow’s watchful guide, observing her from the shadows. He approached, mentioning how these roses only bloom under rare conditions, and that their beauty is best appreciated where it grows.

They walked together as Zoe peppered him with questions about the Hollow. Fade was reserved, but there was a sense of respect growing between them. Eventually, he stopped, eyes softening as he looked from Zoe to the rose she admired.

Reaching down, he gently plucked the pearl nestled within the flower and held it out. its glow illuminating her face. “The Hollow’s beauty belongs here. But…some gifts are meant to be shared. Its memories last only as long as we honor them. That pearl will keep a part of this place with you.” He said gently.

Zoe clutched the small glowing pearl between her claws, murmuring her thanks, but when she looked up, Fade had already melted back into the mist, leaving her alone in the quiet outskirts of the territory.

Life's a Beach, and Then You Live
Written by justjasper

Storms broke out over the seas as Zoe made her way on, battering her wings turning her about. As she tried to gather her bearings, her pearl slipped from it's holster and plummetted below; Zoe didn't even think before diving to follow it. She was born in a water clan, and she was a strong swimmer, but the waves were violent and she had no sight of her lost pearl.

What was a pearlcatcher without it? It contained so many memories, so many years of care of effort. The recent layer was barely dry, and while salt water could not corrode it, she mourned that she would never see it's lustre again, lost to the vast ocean.

What was the point of fighting? You can't fight the sea! As her hope dwindled, she stopped swimming, letting the sea do as it will.

Dawn broke on calm waters, the waves ebbing along a sandy shore as Zoe awoke. The air was warm, and the sound of seabirds grew obnoxious, rousing her.

"As a hatchling," came a voice, "I dreamed of terrible loss."

Zoe looks up to see a gigantic imperial dragon, wreathed in shells, bioluminecent spots fading in the morning light. Clutched in her massive talons was Zoe's pearl!

"I am glad that perhaps this is not that prophesy fulfilled."

Zoe stammered her thanks as she raised herself up, taking back her precious item.

Savai introduced Zoe to the dragons of Alcyonacea Lagoon, offering her shelter and food while she recouperated. She also introduced her to crafters that could help her create an even better harness to keep her pearl safe.

She soon noticed that as well as regaining her pearl, her close call with the ocean had left another mark.
