| xx | On the eve of an autumn night, darkened by the new moon hanging low in the sky blotting out the stars, Rukh called upon ancient magics to raise the body of a fallen dragon from the dead. He didn’t foresee, however, numerous lingering spirits in the area taking an interest in the empty vessel and rushing to seize it for themselves. Thus, Puppet was born—an empty vessel no longer but rather a vessel housing more than it was meant to. While the body was meant for Icarus to claim and finally leave his cursed hatchling’s form behind, the spirits that now made up Puppet paid him no mind and refused to leave. Now, Icarus must wait for Rukh to find a way to dispel the spirits, who offered to simply raise a different body for him despite it being a difficult task when the resurrection is permanent, but Icarus refused on the basis that Puppet’s body is perfect. |
| xx | With multiple spirits making up the being that is Puppet, it’s no wonder that they’re seen as insane by many of the other dragons in the Deep Wood. When they speak, their voice is always composed of many voices in different cadences and tones, making it hard to determine their mood. They always refer to themselves in the third person plural, often holding conversations with themself, and it’s very hard to determine if one spirit is in charge of Puppet or if it’s simply a collective effort. Whatever the case, the only two beings who seem to be able to be around them are Rukh, who is unbothered, and Icarus, who finds Puppet amusing. |

Puppet seems to enjoy spending their time pulling pranks on the other inhabitants of the Deep Wood, ranging from harmless jokes to situations that could become very dangerous very quickly. However, they’ve never actually harmed anyone before, always stepping in at the last moment to ruin their own prank before someone falls victim in a rather lethal way. No one knows why they do this, but Puppet can often be seen fleeing the scene of a prank cackling, whether or not it was successful. They don’t have any friends, but when questioned about this they only laugh and claim that they are the only friend they need. Despite their strange position in life, they seem to be happy enough and content with what is, and any mention of Icarus seeking to claim Puppet’s body for himself will simply make them go silent with a smile—unnervingly so. |
