Biography

Talene
The desert isn’t a great place to find clay, and whatever clay can be found will likely be too crumbly to work with. So when Talene finds good, smooth clay, just the right texture for pottery, she is overjoyed and immediately gathers as much of it as she can to take back with her. Then, she’ll sit at her potter’s wheel for the rest of the day, using every last scrap of clay to make beautiful pottery. And when her den is is covered wall to wall with vases and dishware, she finds a Fire dragon to light her kiln for her and bakes her creations.

That’s how Talene spends all her time — working clay into beautiful and useful wares that she can later take to market. Once all her creations for the day are baked, she can lay down next to her mate, Diago, and dream about sitting at her potter’s wheel again. To Talene, pottery is her entire life, both sleeping and awake. Diago loves watching her dream, because of the way she kneads her feet and her claws, like she’s still working the wheel.

The secret to the intricate carvings on Talene’s pottery is that she doesn’t use any sort of carving knife — she uses her own claws! Nobody utilizes Shiver’s claw files more than Talene, who will usually come in several times a day to sharpen her claws to a razor point, after which she dashes off again to finish carving before her claws dull again. You would think the razor-sharpness of Talene’s claws give her an extra boost on the battlefield, but it’s quite the opposite. Her claws are so thin from being constantly worked and filed that she can’t rip or tear through anything. Her claws are made for carving fine details, not for shredding enemies. And you can always tell when Talene breaks a nail, because the shriek that resounds through the lair is so distinctively hers.
