The Auditor struggles as Tricky claws at their mind, wearing away at their control, and oh, isn't it funny? Isn't it useless? Tricky thinks it's hilarious in any case, forcing his will through the rest of all those bozos the Auditor absorbed in order to grow their own power. Greedy, greedy, always so very, very greedy, his former employer is.
But that's okay, because Tricky is greedy too. He can taste the power of the Halo through the Auditor's metaphysical body, already rejecting them and their will. The Halo has always been a fickle thing, even when good ol' Jebediah was its owner- and refused to let Tricky play with it (how rude!), because "it's too dangerous" "it's too powerful" "it has a will of its own" blah blah blah. That's the entire point, isn't it?
It makes it all the easier to reach for it now. Through the Auditor, through their mind, from where Tricky's true soul waited oh so patiently in Purgatory for them to screw up like this. The Auditor has always been greedy, always been desperate to command power, has always made thoughtless, careless decisions, because they think themselves invincible.
Hee hee.
Their mistake.
Because even if it was super lame that good ol Jebby killed him, Tricky knew- knew that the Auditor would make a mistake like this sooner rather than later.
And the moment they tried to absorb his body- his essence, in order to expand their Purgatory, and their control over the Halo, they already lost.
The Auditor's mind is so weak, compared to his.
"No- stop this, you goddamn clown," Auditor howls at him, in their mind, and Tricky cackles, "you have no idea what you're-"
"CLOWN STRONG," Tricky boasts, forcing the tendrils of his will all throughout the Auditor's body, forcing their part of Purgatory to submit to him, "CANNOT STOP CLOWN!"
The Auditor screeches something in return, but it is too late; Tricky's will snaps into the Halo, the Halo's snaps into his. The power of reality flows through him, bends to his will, and the Auditor is powerless before him as he takes control of their Purgatory, of their native powers. Of them.
Then, the Auditor explodes.
The essence of their supernatural body spills over the edges of the little tower they'd made for themselves, black flames burning along the edges. Smoke rises from the carnage, black liquid covering the ground, making reality unstable. Any corpses that had failed to make it all the way to their body before Tricky entered partially sink into it, automatically getting absorbed by the leftovers of the Auditor's old body, gateway to Purgatory that it is.
And from the ashes, Tricky rises.
He looks at his claws, flexing them with curiousity. Skin pulled tight against bones, dehydrated and corpselike, a deep grey color that he isn't used to. With just a thought, power sizzles in his palm, black and red energy zapping the floor around him. It's more potent than he could have ever dreamed.
Hank.
Hank was here moments ago; Tricky knows it, can smell it, feel it, through his new form. It's warped and new, just like every time Hank claws his way back from the dead, but it is unmistakably still Hank. His favorite opponent, his favorite enemy.
His favorite plaything.
A maniacal, wild giggle rips its way from Tricky's throat, glee bubbling up inside of him alongside rage and hatelovehatelovehatehate. He wants to fight, he wants to kill, he wants, he wants, he wants-
Hank. Hank.
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANK.
The shadows engulf him as he sinks into them, speeding off along the leylines of infinite power towards his Hank.
His toy.
He cannot wait to see Hank's reaction.
