Biography

Gorynich
#2251117
G

("Tau-348-Hydra Hybrid Success: I")
Hydra 001 has successfully hatched! Unlike the other Hybrids, it contains multiple heads, much like an Emperor. This was expected ("Tau-023-Hydra Element Theory: II"). Its biology will be documented in "Tau-349-Hydra 001: I". Overall, Hydra 001 was a resounding success.

---

("Tau-349-Hydra 001: I")
Test Subject: No. 001 "Gorynich"
Status: Alive
Type: Hybrid, Hydra
Genetic Makeup: 27% Arcane Mutant, 22% Lightning Mutant, 17% Skydancer, 17% Imperial, 7% Wildclaw, 6% Coatl, 2% Spiral, 1.25% Guardian, 0.5% Water Mutant, 0.25% Ridgeback.
  • Father - Seraphim 093 "Uraeus": 60% Arcane Mutant, 20% Skydancer, 12% Coatl, 6% Ridgeback, 2% Spiral.
  • Mother - Thunderbird 224 "Thekwane": 52% Lightning Mutant, 30% Skydancer, 16% Wildclaw, 2% Coatl.
  • Trace DNA - Leftovers from Seraphim 003 "Raphael": 53% Imperial, 30% Arcane Mutant, 7% Guardian, 6% Spiral, 4% Coatl.
  • Trace DNA - Seabird 312 "Leviathan": 40% Water Mutant, 29% Imperial, 23% Guardian, 8% Wildclaw.
  • Seraphim 093 and Thunderbird 224 are biologically close, therefore they were used. Arcane is the most variable element, while Lightning is the most compatible ("Tau-023-Hydra Element Theory: I").
  • Imperial traits needed to stabilise multiple elements, hence why it was added and why it bears some similarities to an Emperor. Seraphim 003 was used as it was a successful Hybrid with majority of Imperial DNA. Similarly, Seabird 312 is not as "evolved" as its brethren: it has lateral lines, but otherwise is very similar to an Imperial and Guardian, and elementally-wise is almost Neutral.
Characteristics: Looks closely to a Skydancer, but deviates from there. Two heads. One resembles a mix of a Skydancer, Coatl and Wildclaw, while the other resembles a mix of a Skydancer, Imperial and Spiral. Both heads are biologically male. Like its Seraphim "parents", it possesses six wings - two a mix of Skydancer, Coatl and its "mother's", two feathery with eyes akin to Seraphim 003, and two a mix of Imperial, Wildclaw and Ridgeback wings. Pictures below. Each head seems to act separately. Two brains, one set of lungs, two oesophaguses, one stomach and intestine, six wings, two arms, two legs, four claws each (claws and wingclaws extremely sharp). Senses seem to be extremely sharp, has inherited electroreception and lateral lines, and possesses very good situational awareness ("Tau-356-Hydra 001 Intelligence: II"). Has vestiges of webbing on its claws, and relatively streamlined body allows it to swim and fly faster. On land, its average speed is quite fast, but can easily be outpaced by most Wildclaws. This is most likely due to it possessing Multi-gaze, like Seraphim 093 does as well.
Notes: Enjoys eating all types of food. SCW head (responds to "Nich") more energetic and curious, learns faster ("Tau-356-Hydra 001 Intelligence: I"). SIS (responds to "Gory") head more reserved. Heads often get into "arguments" but nothing too serious. Can act like its feral Mutant ancestors when particularly emotional.

Sornieth Sunday Times
Laboratory In Charged Barrens Mysteriously Explodes

This morning, at around 12.30am, a laboratory in the Charged Barrens abrutply blew up, sending dust clouds everywhere in the near vicinity and setting it on fire. There were no bodies or survivors found. Experts point to gas leak and exposed sparks...

Death and Disaster:

I know you told Deceit to blow up the laboratory and smuggle the less dangerous "Hybrids" out before killing everyone else inside. Frankly, I'm more surprised none of you tried to kill each other, so for this reason (as well as the fact that there is little evidence, and you're essentially my mother with more political pull than me) I will not press charges. However, I expect the Observatory to be able to care for the Hybrids independently, because some may see them as abominations. Distaster, keep that in mind for your anti-Emperor experiments as well.

As usual, standard procedure is to burn this letter.

See my note about the Hs. Don't tell Dissention about Operation Kinugasasō. If you spill I will sic Ava on you, and I showed her this letter so you know I'm serious.

Death,

Hope this finds you well, and that you haven't gone through much trouble over in the Reedcleft Ascent.

Got a plushie for Gorynich, it calms him down. It seems like Gory is more alert and cautious that Nich, because the former insisted on thoroughly checking the plushie before allowing Nich to play with it. Both enjoy swimming, though, so I've brought them down to the caves. The rumours spread about Proteus work wonders in clearing out the place. Proteus has been teaching them how to swim faster. Don't worry, he knows how to keep his mouth shut.

Meanwhile, Raphael can pass as a normal Imperial, if somewhat mentally not up to speed with other Imperials. His tutoring is going well - he's a fast learner, which matches up with what the dossier says. Perhaps we could let him interact with a select few more dragons to get him used to strangers?

"Regina..." a warning tone entered Polaris' voice as she jabbed a claw at the photos on the former's desk. "You haven't been experimenting on dragons, have you?"

"No, Ava would have my head if I did. According to her, even she has standards. A lab in the Charged Barrens blew up and we found them. Well, Laurel was retrieving things from the Source and she saw them, however. Here are their documents."

So, Polaris helped herself to the stack of papers in front of her and plopped herself down onto the armchair in the room before starting to read in silence. Once she was done, she threw her arms up high in the air in exasperation. "Why am I always the last to know these things?!"

"Technically, you're not, we're keeping certain... sensitive information about them from Laurel. Elio knows, but he's closed one eye. The Princess also predicted that you would have such a reaction, so she wanted to do it for her own amusement. I'm more surprised that that's your reaction, instead of reacting to the contents of the dossiers."

The Skydancer shrugged. "I've seen weirder and... less legal... in the Academia. Not that the crazy b*stards lasted very long after it was discovered, because a few of the Archmages are pushing for the dragons to be more ethical. I'm one of them. Besides, Mutants are... anomalies, scientifically and magically speaking, so while these are hardly very ethical, they are quite enlightening. One Magister was studying them. She... suffered an unfortunate accident."

She paused. "Still, the scale of this is impressive, even if they're basically doing dragon experimentation and forced breeding and I don't agree with it. Sorry. Was doing. I saw the article. I'm assuming Ava had a hand in it? All things can usually traced back to her if you dig deep enough."

"Mhm. Can't say more, but you're smart enough to infer."

"Right, right, I see how it is," Polaris rolled her eyes, before snapping her claws together and drinking water from a summoned cup made of crystal ice. "Can I meet them?"

"Raphael doesn't like strangers that much, so not yet. Gorynich... is also struggling to get used to the Clan, and I don't think he'll like Ice magic very much yet."

"Fair."

ULTRA TOP SECRET
PROJECT KINUGASASŌ - TRANSCRIPT
Date of Meeting: 12 Crystalline Gala, 4e 40294
In Attendance:

MARIA STARLING: Firstly, why is she here? [POINTS AT POLARIS]
REGINA BLAZELIGHT: She was down at the bay to give Delonix her third prototype of the magic bracelet when she spotted Gorynich, and so she sent me some... damning photographs of the two Hybrids. Since she would hound me for answers regardless, I sent her a letter, and now she's in the know.
POLARIS EVERWINTER: [HUFFS] You should've informed me anyway. I once did a research paper on Mutants years ago with my classmate. Granted, she died studying them, but still, I'd wager I'm more well-informed about them than most people in the Clan. One of the paper on Mutants they refer to in one of the Alpha dossiers? That was ours, I'm not sure how you missed the surname. It's quite distinctive.
RB: I... didn't read that particular dossier. Admittedly, I was more interested in the latter sections because the Alpha section was all theoretical and dry by even my standards.
HIKARI CASPIA: Also, if you asked me to memory wipe her, I would've called you crazy because she would've impaled me before I could react.
MS: Are you sure about that?
PE: Can you remove moisture from the air within your shield?
HC: ...thirty seconds, give or take. It's too slow. Please don't nudge me, I don't want ink to spill over the transcript. I just got a new bottle.
PE: Mhm, or I could just freeze your blood before you blink instead. Technically, the magic won't rebound off your shield because it's direct application, not a bolt or beam or anything like that. Either way, can we move on to the actual purpose of this?
RB: Thank you. Now, any updates on the two of them?
MAGNOLIA FLORIS: I still don't know why you appointed me to take care of Gorynich... but anyway. He's growing up nicely. Nich in particular is learning to speak for the both of them. Grammatically speaking, there is much to be desired, but... his language capacities are currently at the level of a young hatchling, which means he's about average for a normal dragon. Size-wise, he seems to be quite large for a Skydancer, but not too big. I don't know if that will change. For Raphael...
TOJI EVERWINTER: The laboratory made him into a highly obedient test subject, but he's showing some sort of initiative. He's learnt not to eat everything he's curious about.
HC: Good. I don't want him near my documents again.
TE: In addition, he's learning to fly. It's... quite difficult since he's so huge and distinctive, but we've been doing it at night on foggy days. Effectively, he can only fly with four wings, the innermost pair are basically overgrown vestiges and used as extensions of claws to scratch others. Koel helped; I told her that I was training to fly in foggy weather. It's not wrong. He's... quite fast.
MS: Faster than the Boss?
AVA STARLING: I doubt it.
TE: No sonic booms yet. So, no. What's... your fastest speed and acceleration?
AS: 6174km/h at 50km altitude, or 1715m/s. Five seconds after starting from zero. Breeze is slightly faster, she measured for the both of us. Those particular measurements were taken a year ago, however, so keep that in mind.
PE: So, around... -2.5 degrees Celsius. Approximately... Mach 5.2? Math could be wrong, but that is quite fast for a dragon. For reference, that's about the length of 68.5 Imperials in one second. Acceleration, also slightly faster than the speed of sound.
TE: Definitely not, then. Should I get a speed detector from her?
AS: I don't see why not.
RB: Great. Any other important updates or notices?
ELIO SHADOWBANE: Yes, actually. How's the anti-Shade research?
MS: The what?! Boss, you didn't tell me this was a thing?
AS: Clearly, whoever involved in it did a very good job of keeping it secret. Congratulations.
RB: ...is that genuine?
AS: ...yes. Grudgingly.
DAWN BLAZELIGHT JR: Not bad, actually. Why?
ES: One word: Dusk.
DJr: You know... she does fit the bill for a stereotypical aunt. Always pestering the family and being nosy about their business, although I don't think most aunts try to wipe out their sister's entire bloodline. Mephisto's latest report came back this morning, take this copy. [TOSSES AN ENVELOPE AT ES] He hasn't been Touched by the Shade yet, it seems the wards he cast are holding out just fine. As for the research itself... Ask Lynx, he's in charge of Project Daylight.
**: Sorry... but why is she overseeing it?
DJr: What, I can't? Seriously, though, sunfire apparently counters the Shade - and specifically, Dusk's magic. Victoria didn't inherit a lot, let alone her descendants, Brother dearest needs plausible deniability, Golden is a half-sibling and not the son of a Fire dragon so his is weaker. And... I managed to contact Mother. Crystalline's with her. Oh, and we apparently have four new half-siblings.
ES: [SPUTTERS] Please drop the bombshells with at least some warning first...
NEBULA MESSIER: Your... mother?
DJr: Sorry not sorry. Mother apparently got herself exiled to another dimension after abdicating the throne, so now I think I've seen almost everything. You know, the hilarious part is that Dusk's younger daughter is with her. Fleetingshadow doesn't want anything to do with her mother anymore, so presumably Ayseor will help take her down? Either way, she gave pointers on how to kill her, but the hard part is enduring the Shade and getting past the wards. For the rest, check the report.
ES: Top Secret?
DJr: Ultra Top Secret. And no, Ava, that is not an invitation to read it. No, Maria, that is not a challenge to try and read it either. When I say Ultra Top Secret, I mean that it's for Brother's eyes only. Unless you know how to crack barriers wide open.
ALNILAM MESSIER: ...he's your brother?!
RB: ...you couldn't tell by appearance and the surname being the same?
AM: ...no. Also, I thought his was Shadowbane?
DJr: Nope, it's Blazelight. Common misconception though. "Shadowbane" is reserved for the reigning monarch, because an ancestor was known as the "Bane of Shadows", so the epithet kinda morphed to become part of the regnal name. Regina married into the family, technically still is married.
AS: For the record... no, the only barrier I can break is the sound barrier. I do have my limits. And an unwillingness to suffer the wrath of Hikari.
HC: Sounds about right.
DJr: Somehow I doubt that... so, is that everything?
ES: Yep. Dismissed.

Defiance, Death,

He ran into me earlier while I was down in the coves to talk with DR. He's... bigger than I expected. Well, he did try to talk to me and the language was understandable enough, so... good job on that front. If you hear him talk about a "blue white poofy big sis", that's me. Don't worry, he didn't scratch or bite or anything, so good job on teaching him manners too.

@Death, sorry about all the advanced jargon in the report. Denial tried to simplify it for me somewhat, but... sometimes, the jargon is the most appropriate. Hope Annex C helps.

To: Despair

Great, saves me the trouble of introducing him to you. Good to hear he was nice enough. In other news, can you ask Disregard to see me? I need her expertise.

- Death

PS: What kind of report needs 5 Annexes?!

---

Death,

Sent her a notice. To answer your PS... most Academia theses have anywhere from 1 to 10, so... 5 is not that many. Then again, that depends on the subject, and for this particular topic, it's considered not a lot. The original copy of the dossier I condensed had 11, take that however you will.

Have fun reading! If you need help understanding stuff, shoot Denial a message. Hopefully she can explain things in a way easier to comprehend. I'll be in my usual spot doing my usual job.

Despair

To: Despair

I'll... keep that in mind. So in other words, you'll be napping?
