PS: And yes, that's the last time I'm including my name in these.

Death & Divine,

Attached please find the Experimental Records. Discord got them for us in ways I shall not disclose, please handle them carefully. I've highlighted specific dossiers for you to read. You might find information about our... newest resident... helpful. Discord's also given a copy to Deceit.

—Mutant & Hybrid Experimental Records—

...Effective today, all experiments regarding the Mutants will be directed by the Director. All files preceding the [REDACTED] have been destroyed. Dossier serial numbers shall no longer use the categories Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, etc to avoid confusion. Instead, we shall use Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon etc going forward. All quotes and notations are to be written within quotation marks (""). The following order of writing should be observed: File Header-Serial Number-Subject-Author. Author can be omitted, or their internal title within the research lab may be used. Usage of a researcher's name is forbidden.
These experimental records are not to be used for the writing of diaries, love letters, or fantasy novels.

("Beta-101-Mutant Evolution: I")
We have tried lowering the temperature in the living environs of young Mutants (Beta 025 and 026). As a result, they were weaker once matured. We suspect that this is because their body did not possess the mutation required to resist such an environment (such mutation(s) will be referred to as a "seed" from now on). However, their descendants would all possess higher body fat, greater predilection towards sleep, and would express the Ice element in addition to the naturally-occuring Plague element present in all mutants. (Please refer to the experimental data after the main text. The abnormal data derived from Sample 3 is due to my assistant feeling sorry for the subject of the anti-hunger control group and feeding it surreptitiously.)

When we then placed their descendants into sweltering conditions, they would again choose, like their ancestors, the heat resistance trait. However, none of them have developed traits indicative of the Fire element thus far.

We do not have enough data to reach a conclusion at present, but we can make an educated guess that these mutant dragons have the ability to awaken their "seed" freely before maturation. Mutant mothers can also create new "seeds" to pass on to their descendants should they encounter heretofore unseen, challenging environments.

It can be said that these Mutants have already stored a veritable armoury within their bodies.

---

("Delta-207-Mutant Intelligence Research")
The results of the intelligence tests are astonishing. Through a screening process consisting of rewards and punishments (although previous research indicates that screening is unnecessary — Mutants are all adapters par excellence in no small part due to their residual Plague element), the linguistic capacities of Mutants four generations down are starting to approach that of a Raptorik's. Perhaps it might be more accurate to say that Mutants always had their own methods of communication, and what they are displaying here is their ability to learn.

---

("Zeta-907-Director's Special Orders: I")
All previous attempts at grafting have failed. Because they cannot accept draconic genes and traits, the Mutants will fall victim to various adverse effects. Perhaps they are not yet strong enough, but we cannot be sure — indeed, according to our rationalized mutant evolutionary roadmap, we should have already bred the strongest Mutants possible.

---

("Zeta-907-Director's Special Orders: III")
The grafting can be considered a success. The rejection originates from the Mutants having been far too separate from normal dragonkind, and thus being at odds with the genetics of dragons. With the new techniques, we should be able to successfully breed more Mutant-dragon hybrids.

---

("Eta-001-Hybrid Classification")
The Director has ordered specific types of Hybrids to be bred, and they shall be listed here for easier reference.

Note: All Mutants (and therefore Hybrids) already carry the Plague element regardless of location of the nest ("Alpha-028-Mutant Elemental Flight: II"), and this is due to the nature of the Plague element being highly adaptable, nothing more. Hybrid eyes are either red or the second Flight colour, and it seems to be random. All hybrids not of the Plague Flight will have some combination of the Plague element and the element they are given. Most do not carry diseases on them, but due to their individual dangers, are quarantined. So far, attempts to create mutants and hybrids with three elements are unsuccessful. Hybrids are closer to dragonkind in biology ("Zeta-953-Hybrid Biology Research: VI"); therefore, it is easier to genetically alter them according to the Director's specifications. All Hybrids must be gened to contain a major weakness in case of attempts to fight researchers.

Plague-Plague: Quarantined due to natural venom. Code name Crow. File Header Theta θ.

Plague-Earth: More adapted to burrowing underground. Seem to have lost sight and flight, in exchange for the ability to sense vibrations. Less dangerous than the rest, however, quarantined due to them needing a special environment. Code name Nephilim. File Header Iota ι.

Plague-Fire: Hybrids possess unusually high body temperatures and heat resistance. Code name Phoenix. File Header Kappa κ.

Plague-Wind: Hybrids lose ability to walk, but have enhanced flight abilities. Code name Roc. File Header Lambda λ.

Plague-Water: Hybrids become purely aquatic: Limbs become fins, eyesight becomes sharper, lateral lines develop, and bodies become streamlined for swimming. Code name Seabird. File Header Mu μ.

Plague-Shadow: Hybrids are nocturnal, have enhanced night vision and hearing, but are blinded in bright light. Code name Owl. File Header Nu ν.

Plague-Ice: Hybrids have higher body fat, greater predilection towards sleep, and thicker body coverings. Code name Tern. File Header Xi ξ.

Plague-Lightning: Hybrids become immune to electricity, and develop electroreception. Code name Thunderbird. File Header Omicron ο.

Plague-Light: Hybrids have excellent eyesight and possess bioluminescence. However, cannot see well in the dark. Code name Sunbird. File Header Pi π.

Plague-Nature: Hybrids gain ability to camouflage, but colours seem to change according to their emotions. Stronger limbs and good eyesight, however, flight is restricted to gliding from high surfaces. Code name Thrush. File Header Rho ρ.

Plague-Arcane: Hybrids most variable due to Arcane element. Hybrids seem to possess extra wings and are able to manipulate Arcane magic. Code name Seraphim. File Header Sigma σ.

Three Elements: Experiments have failed so far, but the Director is insistent on having a success. Code name Hydra. File Header Tau τ.

---

("Sigma-062-Seraphim Biology: I")
Unlike the other Hybrids, Seraphim do not possess any one specific traits other than their extra wings. They seem to be most similar to regular dragons genetically - this is most likely due to Arcane and Plague mixing in unpredictable ways, but requires further testing. For example, Seraphim 001 (Responds to "Michael", see "Sigma-065-Seraphim Intelligence: I") resembles a Wildclaw with extra horns and three pairs of wings, while Seraphim 003 (Responds to "Raphael", see "Sigma-065-Seraphim Intelligence: II") resembles an Imperial with three pairs of mismatched wings as well as feathers growing on its body. Seraphim 002 "Uriel", 004 "Raguel", 005 "Sariel", 006 "Gabriel" and 007 "Remiel" all follow this trend. With enough training, perhaps these Seraphim might be intelligent and capable enough to pass as ordinary dragons, except for their mutations.

---

("Sigma-868-Seraphim Update: I")
Seraphim have been chosen as the template to create a Hybrid with a third element, as they are "less specialised" (the Director's words) than their Hybrid brethren. Experiments are underway in the Tau department; Seraphim 093 "Uraeus" and Seraphim 078 "Isaiah" have been selected to be borrowed due to their optimal biological makeup.

Seraphim 001 to 020 are ready for the Director's appraisal. The Director has requested them for [REDACTED], and so it is important for us to present our most successful specimens. Fortunately, we have more of them than the other departments, and they are also obedient as per our training.

---

("Sigma-868-Seraphim Update: II")
The appraisal was a success. [REDACTED]

---

("Sigma-024-Seraphim 003: II")
Bad news. Seraphim 003 has escaped the laboratories. The Director has ordered a maximum security lockdown as well as sent out several search parties to find it. Seraphim 003 is unusually massive due to having the traits of an Imperial and a Guardian as well as being specifically bred for strength and size; as long as the search parties bribe it with its favourite treats, it should not be too hard to find it. Fortunately for us, we have other specimens to fall back on. Besides, one escaped specimen that is not ranked too highly in terms of danger will not be difficult to deal with.

Laurel,

Elio's busy, so he asked me to ask you to head down to the Source to grab stuff because you're pretty much immune to electricity. Refer to the attached letter.

~ Dawn Jr

"...that Imperial's massive," Laurel seemed finally at a loss for words as she moved out of the way of a stray arc of electricity snaking across the bluish desert.

Volta found his grip after jostling around for a bit on Laurel's shoulder, before squinting around the normally-desolate Charged Barrens. "I don't think Imperials are normally that big, right?"

"The biggest one I've seen are slightly smaller, yes," the Skydancer agreed as electricity harmlessly bounced off the Imperial's body. "Also, what's up with the extra wings? I've seen some dragons with extra wings, but... this guy looks pretty unusual."

"You want to go ask him?"

"No thanks, in case he's hostile. Tell you what, Dawn Jr's an omniglot, she can deal with him, let me grab her and Toji." So saying, Laurel vanished in a crackle of electricity and instantly reappared with the two of them. The Princess, unusually enough, was decked out in heavy armour, but it was quite reasonable. "So..."

The Imperial looked over at them, looking quite surprised at the appearance of another huge dragon.

"Here goes nothing."

("Sigma-024-Seraphim 003: III")
Seraphim 003 seems to have vanished off the face of Sornieth. We have deemed retrieving it a lost cause. From now on, Seraphim 104 will serve as its replacement. The information regarding Seraphim 003 will be stored in the interest of record-keeping.

("Sigma-024-Seraphim 003: I")
Test Subject: No. 003 "Raphael"
Status: Presumed Dead
Type: Hybrid, Seraphim
Genetic Makeup: 53% Imperial, 30% Arcane Mutant, 7% Guardian, 6% Spiral, 4% Coatl.
Characteristics: Larger than most dragons, due to being bred specifically for strength and size. Three pairs of functional wings. One pair characteristic of Imperial dragons with the Bee dominant secondary gene. One pair matches the DNA taken from an unusual Coatl with Multigaze (the Coatl had Multigaze on his wings), eyes on 003's wings seem to be functional ("Sigma-045-Seraphim Biology: I"). One pair matches the wings characteristic of a Guardian's, however, wings appear skeletal and the leather is torn in places. Extremely sharp wing claws. Despite this, 003 is capable of limited flight with its main pair of wings ("Sigma-045-Seraphim Biology: I"). Feathers growing sporadically along its body, no pattern observed. Has stumps on its hip bones above its legs, presumed to be the Coatl DNA causing some form of secondary wings to appear on its body. Sharp teeth and claws. Despite its Guardian DNA, possess no indication that it has or is searching for a Charge. It is capable of some speech, but nothing too complicated. Intelligence is akin to a 8-month-old hatchling.
Notes: Has shown a preference for meat and seafood. Has shown no interest in breeding. Subject 005 is quite affectionate towards it, however, this may be due to Subject 005 primarily having the genes of a Guardian. 003 lacks the requisite hormone receptors for attraction towards others, effectively making it sterile. However, it is friendly.

"Hello," Toji greeted, as Dawn Jr sat in his ear to hopefully translate.

"Hello. Who you?"

Well, this was rather awkward. Dawn Jr whispered, "Tell him your name."

"I am Toji," he pointed to himself. "You?"

The Imperial responded, mimicking his gesture, "I Raphael. You Togee."

"Toji," came the correction, "Nice to meet you, Raphael. What are you doing out here?"

They looked confused, so he rephrased, "Why you here? Here dangerous."

"I explore outside. Meet new friends."

This... was going to take a while.
