 MAYIOSSA ★ Mayiossa has become the Monarch's guard and is as devoted to her as the Consort is. Even with all the strokes of destiny already painted through her past, this skydancer doesn't know what to do about it all. She's resisted her calling. She's scared of how easy it is to harm others. The constant temptation to use her bloodline's ultimate power plagues her, despite the tragedy it's sure to wreak. She's flighty and timid and shrinks at Bellatrix's harsh demeanor... but that doesn't mean she stops her training. Mayiossa knows she has a duty not to let herself fall. Eridanus is her trusted mentor and teaches her the art of strategy and evasion. She's shrewd and perceptive, preferring to outsmart her opponent and wait for the optimum time to strike. INFORMATION ★
STORY ★ Mayiossa, or 'Ossa as her sister Kandia calls her in private, is a creature of legend. She and her sister are both Witch's Hearts: a cursed line of dragons who carry the allure of a demon's gratifying power for a single wish, albeit at the cost of their own life. Mayiossa's Heart manifests as a dappled red light which plays across her body from no known source, advertising her gift to any who would recognize the signs. Mayiossa's parents planned on training her, but not a day after the girls' hatching, a raid tore through the lair as Beastclan power-mongerers tried to steal the hatchlings. Ambrose and Zynne knew the best chance at their offspring's safety was in anonymity. Zynne managed to escape undetected, flying her babies away to abandon them near a trading post on the edge of Wind's territory. The Laospí Clan was nearby and happened upon them later that same day, drawn by their pitiful cries for food and the warmth of a parent. Despite their numbers slowly growing, the clan's majority vote was to take the pair in; they named them Mayiossa and Kandia after the warning words on their orphan letters describing their Witch's Hearts. With a tough but supportive home, the pair grew willowy, lean, and full of boundless talent for martial prowess. They trained with both the warmaster Bellatrix and the strategist Eridanus; when they became more skilled than anyone but their masters, the sisters were given the noble duty of protecting the leaders of the Laospí Clan. As of now, Mayiossa keeps herself a as quiet background character, even if her Heart and arresting presence don't help her hide. As withdrawn as she is, Mayiossa rarely instigates connections, but she's made a few good friends in the Laospí. Ytte and Sierrie are her closest friends and they have regular brunches together. She's agreeable to most everyone else, especially visitors. ...Mostly everyone. Achernar seems to be the only dragon who really gets a rise out of her. His devil-may-care attitude may fly in an incorrigible demigod like Panic, but coming from some mortal dragon with an inflated ego and penchant for promiscuity really drives Mayiossa crazy. His flirtations have delivered only sullen sass from her and the pair exist in a back-biting cold war of irritation and denied interest. He hits on Kandia as much as herself, and the twins have found a new hobby together in trash-talking the nocturne with his ex, Sierrie. | x |
