Kandia is a creature of legend. Lithe, svelte, and darkly cursed, she and her sister Mayiossa are both Witch's Hearts: a cursed line of dragons with a brief, suicidal moment of wish-granting power. Kandia's parents had planned to train her to protect herself from those who would use her once she grew, but they never got the chance; not a day after her hatching, a raid for the hatchlings' powers tore through the lair. With a breaking heart, her mother flew the sisters to the bamboo forest and abandoned them with naught but a note and some bamboo shoots. Lucky for the twins, the Laospí Clan was nearby and happened upon them later that same day, drawn by their pitiful cries for food and the warmth of a parent. Despite their numbers slowly growing, the clan's majority vote was to take the pair in; they named them Mayiossa and Kandia after the warning words on their orphan letters describing their Witch's Hearts. With a tough but supportive home, the pair grew willowy, lean, and full of boundless talent for martial prowess. They trained with both the warmaster Bellatrix and the strategist Eridanus and, when they became more skilled than anyone but their masters, the sisters were given the noble duty of protecting the leaders of the Laospí Clan. Kandia knows she's possible of anything she sets her mind to. She's embraced her calling and trains with unending motivation, and her confidence and coarse, direct attitude hide the patience she has with others much more than herself. Even Bellatrix's harsh demeanor doesn't bother her; Kandia is one of the few who 'get' Bellatrix and enjoy her company. She tends to get bored easily and is very physical, preferring to get beaten up in the training pit before sitting through one of Eridanus's long lectures. Her assertiveness can lead her into a trap by a clever opponent-- but that's only if they survive her shredding onslaught first. Kandia proudly displays her entire body, from star clustered shoulders to dappled wingtips. She thinks her body is just fine the way it is and sees no need to wear anything to hide it unless there's a purpose. It's almost as if she invites anyone who would dare recognize her Heart to a fight, and she acts like it, too. Her athletic enthusiasm, outgoing confidence, and station have landed her squarely with the hunter/fighter girls of the Laospí. Her best friend, Khana, is a total nerd for Dragon-Fu and Kandia regularly makes friendly jabs at her about its obscurity. She's also found a dear friend in Kaho. Snare was a friend... until the change. This close circle of friends tease her often about watching Kytha, the doll-crafter and tailor. Kytha is one of the most intriguing, subtle dragons Kandia has ever met; he both fascinates and startles her with his humble existence, lived within his preternatural skin. She hides her fluttering feelings from him, but Khana can't keep a secret from the girls, so it wasn't long before they found out. In the face of their teasing, Kandia impulsively mothered a nest with the brooding guardian Bassanio, but any insightful dragon can see she's lying to herself.
