Fabian was found wondering around Vitus' garden as a hatchling. Vitus being a jerk tried to scare him away but Fabian wasn't scared of him and he wouldn't leave. When Ninella and Gulbrandr came out of the lair to help Vitus with the garden they tried to ask the baby dragon where he had come from. Fabian said nothing. They tried to get Fabian to enter the lair to see Hezakia, but Fabian wouldn't leave the garden. Getting very frustrated with the silent, stubborn hatchling, Vitus tried to push Fabian out of the garden, but Fabian is a chunky lad and Vitus wasn't strong enough. After Fabian had been in the garden for a few days, Vitus, Ninella, and Gulbrandr had grown used to his presence. They noticed that their plants were growing better as well because Fabian had been eating any animals coming into the garden. The three friends decided that they would adopt Fabian (this is when he got his name) and Hezakia allowed them to do so.
Unlike most the other clan members Fabian does not have a apartment inside the lair, instead he lives outside the lair in a hut made of clay and rocks that Ninella and Vitus built for him.
He is completely nonverbal but he can hear and understand what others say to him, however he is incredibly stubborn and will pretend he didn't hear if he's asked to do something he doesn't want to.
Unlike other gaolers Fabian does not eat plants, but he does eat insects. He will eat any living thing that enters the garden other than dragons and familiars, but the other clan members tend to keep their familiars away from him just to be safe.
His nickname is Bean.
The only time he ever enters the lair is for mandatory clan meetings. The other clan members make bets on whether Fabian or Ayaz will be the last to arrive or the first to leave.
