Biography

Dominance and the coli go hand in hand. Each flight has a chance to be top of the leaderboard in dominance, and even the NPC generated Beastclans are able to rank on the leaderboard!

Dominance is a weekly arrangement, wherein the standings are decided by how many dragons are exalted in that week. Higher level dragons have more payout for dominance, but based on the speed of leveling a dragon, it might still be more beneficial to level a dragon only a little bit for a faster turnaround.

A flight can win dominance any number of times, although the site provides a mechanic called "battle weariness" to the winner, which makes it more complicated to win dominance a second time in a row. Exaltation credit is reduced by 10%, and stacks up each time a flight wins first place.

What are exalted dragons?

Each dragon can be exalted, and at that point it leaves your lair and effectively no longer exists. In lore, they are sent to serve your flights deity and it is a place of honour. In the real world, you are scrubbing the dragon from the usable pool of dragons. If you exalt a dragon on accident, however, you can use support to get it back. This is not an unlimited ability, however, and the user should instead take care not to exalt their dragons on accident.

However we are lucky in that a dragon must be without apparel, skin/accent, and familiar to be exalted. A safe way to ensure you don't accidentally kill your favourites is to throw a familiar or piece of clothing on them. Crisis averted!

As each dragon receives a unique ID upon stepping into the world, that ID still saves that dragons existence. If you visit an exalted dragons page, you'll still find some information there, although it looks a little different to a normal page. Here's one of the kids of my progenitors as an example.

You can still see the exalted dragon, as well as their name and lineage. The backdrop of the page will represent the flight the dragon was exalted to, which means the flight of the user who exalted it. In the case of the example, we can see Syndicate was exalted by an Earth flight member into the glorious servous of the Gladekeeper. Go Nature!

Exalting dragons doesn't just benefit your flight should you win dominance, you also receive currency from the site for each dragon exalted depending on their level. Level 1 dragons will be default give you 2,250 treasure upon exaltation. Level 2 will pay 3,750, with a steady increase per level maxing out at 38,250 treasure for a level 25. If you only care about dominance, this is well and fine, but if you are exalting to make a profit, then you are losing money for exalting higher level dragons as more often you can sell those dragons to other players for a prettier sum.

Each day, there is also an exalt bonus which can be found on the right hand side of the main page under both the Dev Tracker and the Random Dragon of the moment. You'll get the listed increased payout for exalting dragons of the chosen breed, gene or colour.

Players took the idea of dominance and ran away with it. They created competitions, scheduled wars between certain flights, and politely created room for each flight to have dominance during their flight's holiday week. It's turned into a player-run game of profit and glory, and each flight will have an impressive dom team that organizes and takes care of dominance in a truly impressive display of "great minds think alike."

Every flight runs their own dom teams differently. Some things are the same throughout, in that there is an order of opperations. Flights schedule pushes either solo or competitively. Solo pushes are usually for profit, whereas competitive pushes are usually for conquest—a little bit of competitive fun.

Each flight has a bank. Bear in mind this is not a site-provided mechanic, but rather something that was born from the players love of dominance. Flights will perform profit pushes, wherein they will dedicate a week to exalting dragons with the purpose of making as much money as possible to fill up their bank. Winning dominance for the week is an added bonus, but in truth isn't the main goal. Profit pushes focus on buying cheap dragons and leveling them for a payout higher than what they'd paid. This money can be used for buying goodies to host in-flight and out-of-flight raffles, but it can also be used for conquest pushes.

Conquest pushes throw profit to the wind. For the duration of the week, a flight pushing for conquest only cares about winning dominance. This is most fun and notable when two flights schedule a battle, where both flights will do a conquest push at the same time. Dragons get exalted faster than you can think.

Even if you do not care about dominance, a conquest push will impact how you sell your dragons.

I emphasize this because it is not uncommon to see users complaining that their beloved dragons were exalted instead of sent to a forever home, but when flights are battling for conquest you will see the fodder floor level rise SIGNIFICANTLY. Adult dragons become food for the hungry maw of dominance in this period of time, and depending on how bloodthirsty the two competing flights are feeling, you might be surprised at how much they're willing to spend to win. And it's within anyones right to do so!

If you are interested in joining your flights dom team, you can usually find out more in the flight-specific dominance forum thread. It isn't just about leveling dragons, dom teams are looking for people with large layers to hoard and hold fodder for later use, or for snipers to haunt the auction house and pick up cheap adult dragons at lower than fodder floor.

For many, this is the most fun part of Flight Rising. It has definitely become an integral part of the site for a large portion of the userbase.

Exalting Bitter to the service of the Icewarden will remove them from your lair forever. They will leave behind a small sum of riches that they have accumulated. This action is irreversible.
