Maintenance

After rollover (midnight on site time) there is a 30 minute period where the site is unusable as behind the scene stuff happens. On occasion, maintenance might last longer or be at a different time for larger updates, but staff will alert as such in the Site Status on the front page.

How to ping

You simply put an @ symbol in front of their username! Like so: @Mypilot

Pings only work in the forums, so pinging someone in bios or clan page comments will result in nothing. However, it is a nice fast way to link to someones account. People like to do this when crediting users for something, such as saying "thanks to @Username for the skin design" in a dragons bio or something along those lines.

Anything between the @ and the name will break the ping, such as code. So if I underline the name and write @Mypilot, that user will not receive a notification. I would have to write it as @Mypilot, underlining both the name and the @, for the ping to work.

Changing your flight

You can change your flight once for free going to the settings. About halfway down is the option to change flights. After you change your flight once for free, any subsequent flight change will cost 1,500 gems and can only be done in six month intervals.

Change your username

In the settings, you can change your username once for free. After that, it will cost 500 gems.

Restarting

As you are unable to create a second account under any terms, the only way to "restart" from fresh is to sell all of your dragons, change your username and flight if desired, sell all of your items, remove all of your friends, and manually delete all of your forum posts and profile comments. However, as your account is bound by an account number, it may still be possible for users to connect you to your previous name/identity.

This user bought my dragon and is going to name it Ugly. Is there anything I can do about it?

By default, no. Once a dragon leaves your lair, it is no longer yours to make demands of. If someone immediately resells the dragon for twice the price, they can. If someone exalts it right away, they are allowed to. If someone names it Stinky and tells everyone they hate it, then that's their decision.

An exception would be if it is the same user buying all of your dragons listed at like 35kt each and, say, spite exalting all of them. At that point it can be considered harassment and you can submit a ticket as such.

Why do festival cycles start with Light in June?

The site was launched in June, and Light was the first flight to hold a festival. As such, the year starts around then and new festival themed items won't appear until the end of the cycle in May.
