OCTAVIO
The Seaweed Harvester
SUMMARY
Born originally in the Worldedge Wetlands, Octavio traveled the world when they came of age. Following the water and the sea, they explored many different clan lands and learned much from dragons all over Sornieth. Inevitably, when they chose to settle, they came to the lands where travelers come to rest. Octavio's expertise as a farmer at the edge of the ocean was welcomed in Rivensong, where access to food is hard in a sometimes harsh environment.
A gentle, quiet dragon, Octavio prefers to spend their time tending to their oceanic water gardens. Their main harvest is seaweed, several varieties the plant-eating dragons rely on as staples within their diet. They have a deep knowledge and respect for the plant life of the sea. They also harvest periwinkles, starfish, and other small edible creatures that creep through the fronds of the seaweed. |
HISTORY
Octavio grew up swimming among the great kelp forests on the World's Edge, gazing into the far distance. Their clan was a small one, that had made a home for themselves among the vibrant living world of the Viridian Labyrinth. Together they harvested the bounties of the sea and kept one another safe. It was in this gentle, loving environment Octavio was raised.
When they came of age, Octavio decided to see what lay in the distance beyond their home. Turning away from the World's Edge, they traveled all across Sornieth. They thrived in the Sea of a Thousand Currents, and spent a few years there, but eventually kept moving on. When they finally decided to settle down, they chose the opposite horizon- clan Rivensong, on the edge of wind territory. Despite their travels, they still often think of home. They write often, and every other year they make a long journey back to visit for the winter. The clan quickly came to rely on Octavio's sea gardens, and now they organize the primary harvests of seaweed and other shallow water forage. Capocollo trusts Octavio deeply, and as kindred spirits they get along well. They can often be seen spending time together, either discussing food stores or just enjoying each other's silence. Otherwise, Octavio spends their days taking tea in their cozy sea-side lair, tasting the salt on the wind. All are welcome to visit- so long as they don't mind the spray of the sea mist. |
