Biography

SZQNZtY.png

Uh-oh, looks like this wild spitfire has wandered a little too far from her home lair (LabyrinthianLost, 570686 OR AmethystSeaWing, 515695), and now she's off to see the world! If you ever feel the urge to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off to See the World' thread. If you don't want another traveler in return, you can also drop her off at the Traveling Dragon Rest Hub!
Tempestfang was born in a clutch with one sister, Lillyana, who looked like the spitting image of their mother. Tempestfang, however, prided herself in looking very similar to their father, and she saw him as an idol first and a parent second. She grew eager to see all she could at a very young age and became boldly independent, which Hypertext encouraged but which worried Pandora. Tempestfang didn't pay her mother any mind: she was going to travel Sornieth! And there was no stopping her once she'd made the decision. Her family often caught her packing bags with an odd assortment of cloth, pretty rocks, and half-eaten food. Embarrassed by being found out, Tempestfang took to hiding her possessions and her plans.

When her mother left - before her father! - Tempestfang was shocked and, above all, appalled. The mother who'd championed enjoying her time at home and the explorer itching to see the world were like two different dragons to her daughter, and Tempestfang found herself souring towards her mother, who had left before she could. So she decided it was high time she left herself. Lillyana caught her packing - again - but knowing that she couldn't stop her reckless sister, she helped instead of hindered. Tempestfang gave her sister a rare "Thank you" before she took off, into the sky. Her journey was finally begun!

Tempestfang's first stop was the idyllic Sunbeam Lanternhouse, and while it was nice... it wasn't what she'd had in mind when she thought adventure. But her hosts were friendly and she was willing to try some different activities to entertain herself. She tried her claw at different crafts in the artists' commune and tried to solicit lessons from the dance troupe (they were busy). She explored the Meadow.

But... it wasn't really an adventure. She was growing bored when Warrior's Way was announced: she tagged along with The Twins, joining them in the Coliseum, and got what she'd been looking for. With their help, she grew stronger.

At the conclusion of Warrior's Way, she thanked her hosts and continued her journey.

Tempestfang next began venturing into the mysterious, ominous Star Wood Strand, where she discovered a dragon named Leona. Tempestfang had inturrputed Leona's familiar-hunting, but she was quickly led back to the Bijouvert clan. Nithe, the Innkeeper, eccentrically welcomed her and provided a room.

Tempestfang discovered that the clan she had stumbled upon was a very inviting one, and she felt as if she were among friends more than strangers. A few dragons were a bit reserved, but none were notably aggressive.

As the annual Flameforger's Festival began, Tempestfang found herself wanting to engage in battle once more, and perhaps grow closer to the soldiers of the clan. She went to the soldiers and asked to make the trek to the Coliseum. One dragon, Silver, was a little hesitant to step down from her position, but ended up complying. Tempestfang was sure, however, that Silver was watching from the sidelines. As mysterious as Silver was, Tempestfang grew fond of her.

One day while in this clan, Tempestfang stumbled upon an odd cave carved into the side of a hill, not too far away from the main lair of the clan. She and Amur, who she was wandering with while discussing battle tactics, entered the cave. Amur was smiling and entered confidently, saying how "You'll love it here," and Tempestfang curiously followed. Upon entering the dark cave, a glow began to become visible all around. After closer inspection, Tempestfang realized they were dragons. One lit a lantern, and the beautiful, starry colors and patterns became visible on the hides of these dragons. Tempestfang's own scales even seemed to glow a little. She was awed by the incredible dragons here, and would remember the experience likely for the rest of her life. After the Flameforger's Festival, she was ready to continue her journey and explore more of Sornieth.

Tempestfang hadn't intended to set down in Light territory again, but nothing else had looked appealing from above, she was nearing the end of her supplies and energy, and she figured that a Light clan would at least be a peaceful place to land and rest up.

She hadn't counted on Izuki. She woke up after her first night in the Helianthus Haven to find a green Obelisk arguing with a Guardian about someplace called the Hewn City. "I heard about that stunt you pulled out in the Emperor's Wake," the Guardian said. "If you want to risk your own neck, that's fine, but I'm not going to have you endangering my trainees."

"What's this about risking necks?" Tempestfang inquired, to a scowl from the Guardian and a delighted grin from Izuki.

Risking necks was exactly what the two of them went on to do, as a team, over the days and weeks that followed. He showed her the stunt he'd pulled - exploring the Emperor's Wake, ready to clear out at the first sign of Luminax's approach - which was fascinating, eerie, and if you waited until there was an actual Luminax sighting before you cleared out, exhilarating as well. The two of them, accompanied by an experienced warrior who could communicate with ghosts, explored the Hewn City, though they didn't find any treasure to speak of, and their guide didn't relay much of what the ghosts had to say.

It was fun, but eventually they both started getting restless, wanting to see more and stretch their wings again. And Izuki befriended another thrill-seeker, a Snapper named Herelie, who claimed to have a connection on a real pirate ship. To Izuki, it sounded promising; to Tempestfang, with a Ridgeback's instinctive distaste for water, it sounded like a nightmare. Reluctantly, the two of them said their goodbyes, with Tempestfang leaving for a new adventure elsewhere.

Tempestfang received word that a clan in Shadow territory had some room for her, so after her stay in light, she flew west to the Wispwillow Grove. She did not find the clan immediately since they were on the very edge of the Grove, but she was excited once she did. They were very friendly and gave her a small little room in their inn for her to stay. She also soon learned that the head guard and battle trainer of the clan, Blissful, was not all that experienced herself and always appreciated advice from traveler dragons with more knowledge in battle. Tempestfang immediately took on the role and began helping her and Zalitz (another dragon from the clan who possessed a bit more experience) with learning a few better techniques.

Tempestfang immediately noticed that the young skydancer was having some trouble. She was trying to become a mage, almost, and it wasn't helping her much in battle. The ridgeback suggested that she try learning some melee attacks, but the young dragoness wasn't all that strong, so they took some time off the battlefield to strength train together. She began training excitedly and soon became quite strong and agile, but still keeping some magical abilities. After that, the three of them began to show signs of progress - even Tempestfang herself. Soon trying harder territories to battle in, and practicing in the Training Fields. Tempestfang was the one who helped the clan save a young hatchling named Earthen who'd been taken from somewhere in earth territory by a Brown-Spotted Mith. She grew attached to the dragonet and decided to keep in touch with her, and if she ever returned to this clan to stay, she would adopt her.

As the Night of the Nocturne came around, the trio entered into a contest where each day during the fortnight they would fight in a different territory, and if they brought back certain souvenirs from their battles, they would complete the challenge for that day. It gave them lots of training time, and also helped out the clan by keeping mimics at bay. They showed great progress over those couple of weeks, finding chests and bringing back useful items. Tempestfang enjoyed it immensely and was disappointed when it was over, but she was happy with the improvement both herself and her two new friends had made in their fighting techniques.

After about a month more of living in the clan, the ridgeback decided it was time to find another place to travel to. Blissful even gave her a parting gift, a young and resilient Conflict Creature. Tempestfang packed her few belongings and said a heartfelt goodbye to all the dragons she’d met before taking off into a clear night sky in search of more adventure.
