Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this daring adventurer wandered a little too far from their home lair (521234, Birdarang), and now they’re off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt them, we'd really appreciate it if you instead could just send them off in the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread. If you don't want another traveler in return, they can be sent to their original home via the Crossroads, or this rest hub. You can also adopt them permanently if you don’t want them leaving your lair.

Many people have worked very hard on this traveling dragon, and exalting them would be an absolute shame. Please don’t do it!

Pronouns: he/him/his
Izuki is one of the many Obelisks hatched right after the breed’s emergence, and with four siblings to boot! He’s long desired a life of adventure away from his quiet hometown. As a hatchling, he was always getting into trouble as a result of his reckless “adventures”, climbing the tallest parts of the ruins and getting lost in the woods that border Shadow territory. Now that he’s old enough to strike out on his own, he’s hoping to do all those things without getting into trouble. Or at least, too much trouble.

Izuki’s Log wrote:
Lirillith, Helianthus Haven: The Sunbeam Ruins provided plenty of opportunity for adventure. Maybe too much. When Izuki arrived in Lanternlea Port aboard a Wind Flight airship, even fellow passengers and the airship's crew warned him against approaching the Hewn City or going too near the Emperor's Wake. Which made both of them irresistible.

His attempt at exploring the Emperor's Wake was a strange experience; hours of wandering an eerily deserted landscape that was all the more peaceful for the massive claw-furrows and bits of debris strewn around. And sometimes it tipped over fully into eerie - he discovered a fully abandoned settlement, consisting of multiple buildings and dens, some still intact enough to show the signs of of how quickly they'd been abandoned - a pot full of a burned meal sitting atop a stove that had gone cold, a half-shaped hunk of metal on an anvil - and others not so much. A giant, ancient tree bearing the remains of an extensive Fae nest had been completely uprooted and tossed aside; it must have once been close to the settlement, but Isuki found it some ways away, with shreds of fabric and paper still hanging around it, the remnants of decorations or belongings.

And then it all ended in chaos when he heard a thudding noise and felt a faint vibration, and poked his head out of an underground tunnel - so massive it must have belonged to a Ridgeback or Imperial - to see a shadow on the horizon with three heads, and a stampede of fellow dragons racing his way, away from what had to be Luminax. He scrambled out of the den and joined their panicked escape, but once they were safely far enough away that they couldn't make out the roaring, he found himself laughing, and he wasn't the only one. Maybe it was relief. Maybe it was the adrenaline. Either way, he was hooked.

It was even better when he was joined by another adventure-seeker, a Ridgeback named Tempestfang. They were both young dragons, new to travel and eager for their first real tastes of adventure, and delighted to share it with a kindred spirit. Together, they made further forays into the Emperor's Wake, recruited a guide to take them into the Hewn City, and even, on off days, explored the markets and museums of Lanternlea Port. Fellow guests seemed to think they were a couple, but neither of them had any interest in that - just in adventure.

It was fun, but eventually they both started getting restless, wanting to see more and stretch their wings again. And Izuki befriended another thrill-seeker, a Snapper named Herelie, who claimed to have a connection on a real pirate ship. To Izuki, it sounded promising; to the water-hating Ridgeback Tempestfang, it sounded like a nightmare. Reluctantly, the two of them said their goodbyes, with Tempestfang leaving for a new adventure elsewhere.

On further discussion, Herelie clarified that her pirate adventure had been a major letdown, but she agreed to introduce Izuki to the crew before she took off for some other destination. A discussion with the captain made it clear that Herelie had finagled her way onto the ship and left a very bad taste in everyone's mouths; Captain Nessi was distinctly hostile to the idea of any more passengers coming on board. Disappointed but undaunted, Izuki got ready to depart, planning to seek new adventures elsewhere.
