"Insert your dragon's quote here. It looks nice multi-lined as well, if the quote is long." ▰▰▰_____________________________________ -early-mid 40s -Callahan is a Hunter who specializes in the live capture, extraction, and, if necessary, slaughter of Virulent Ghouls. Her particular area is Ghouls with unknown or particularly dangerous plagues, or Ghouls that have evaded capture from, in her eyes, Mother's "second-best" Hunters and Holy Knights. While her methods are often considered reckless or unorthodox by other, more traditional Hunters, but no one can deny that they work -- she's devised a method of wielding her personal strain of plague, a virus that attacks the nerves, like whips, which she can use to paralyze targets or safely bind and transport them. Although she likes to claim they're just jealous of her near-flawless track record, her cocky attitude and unpleasantly abrasive demeanor have made her fairly unpopular at the Necromantic Tower among the other Hunters, and she has a very hard time working in teams outside her entourage. She prefers to spend her time in Hellwell Undercroft, and only makes the trek out to the tower if she's summoned by the Council for some reason. Political dealings and stuffy traditions bore her, and she has few ambitions of becoming a member of the Council, even a low-ranked one. -Her bad attitude towards the Council and the traditional Necromancer hierarchy has largely barred her from getting a more high-status familiar. However, although her muckbottom catfish Stetson might be the kind of familiar largely reserved for junior Necromancers or Necroservi, he can be surprisingly dangerous. He's big enough to hit unsuspecting opponents like a truck, can use his six legs to help subdue targets, has thick scales that can deflect magical attacks, and can sniff out scent trails like a bloodhound. -Despite her rudeness and arrogance, she does have a genuine, loving soft spot for Stolas, her cousin, whose trial she intervened in to stop him from becoming a Ghoul; as well as her Necroservus (though really, they're a servant in official Council business only) and partner Denver. Callahan was never really one for artificial hierarchies, having been raised among an odd gaggle of Necromancers and trial failures on Rotrock Rim; although she originally brought Denver into her entourage as an assistant, the little Fae was one of the only dragons she'd met who could put up with her horrid attitude, a quality that enamored her to them. -Dispatched to Askarel Port by direct order of the Necromantic Council to deal with what the councillors called "a particularly troublesome and virulent ghoul". Par for the course for her hunting, really. No one told her, however, that the ghoul was a damn hatchling, or that its plague was something no one had ever seen before -- the doctors were telling her it didn't come from the Wyrmwound -- that killed more horrifically than any illness she'd ever seen within hours and had a zero percent survival rate so far, or that it would be so hard to find. Her entourage has spent most of their time waiting for new reports of the ghoul to come up so they can try to pinpoint its location. Callahan's never really had much of a conscience, but she can't help but feel a bit sick at the idea that, if the ghoul's strain of plague didn't come from the Wyrmwound, a clan would have had to deliberately infect a hatchling that young with a bioweapon -- and for what? |
