History Olympic was named for her distinctive stripes, which resemble those of a ship from a different world, glimpsed in one of Starlight's visions. Born a Skydancer, she always wanted to be bigger and stronger so as to protect her loved ones more easily, and so she jumped at the chance to become a Guardian instead. Due to being transformed as an adult, she never developed the characteristic Guardian desire to take on a charge, but she has always been protective by nature - in fact, she's terrified of letting people down - and defends her clan and loved ones as if she were born to do so. She also protects her emotional support animals, Nomadic and Traffic, who in turn help her calm down whenever she gets upset. She and her sisters were orphaned as hatchlings, and they were taken in by a small clan of dragons. One such dragon, a guardian who is now known as Carpathia, took on Olympic's twin sister as her charge, while a gruff older Guardian chose Olympic herself. The third sister was born a few months after the other two, right before their parents were killed, and was too young to travel with the clan to visit the leader's birth family. She stayed in their lair with a few other dragons, while Olympic and her twin followed their newfound family to the Southern Icefield. The journey there, however, ended in tragedy: a freak avalanche struck the group, killing Olympic's sister as well as several other dragons. Olympic was devastated and quite traumatized by this incident, and it's haunted her ever since. Her other sister ended up dying young as well, drowning after being knocked unconscious in a fight. Olympic's tragic past hasn't left her mind, but she doesn't talk much about it and is instead known primarily for her strength and courage as well as her... interesting fashion sense, and although she's garnered a reputation as a fearless warrior she also has a soft side. She's very gentle when she's not fighting and can often be seen playing with the clan's hatchlings - it seems she has retained the parental instincts of the Skydancer she once was. When Mauretania joined the clan, Olympic sparked up a friendship with her. The two of them are constantly bickering, but it's all in good fun and at the end of the day they're still just as close as ever. Mauretania likes to call Olympic Lympi, a nickname she uses specifically because Olympic finds it stupid-sounding, and in return Olympic has an ever-growing arsenal of less-than-flattering nicknames for Mauretania as well. Each of them always has a witty comeback ready to use on the other, and their friendship has left Olympic feeling happier than she's been in a long time. |

Information Name // OLYMPIC Personality // Olympic's reputation for fearlessness is well-founded. She's brave and tenacious, known for her protective nature and utter refusal to ever give up, but this courage is driven by fear. Olympic has a horrible fear of letting others down and, as such, works best when others are counting on her - or at least, when she thinks they are. When she's not fighting or guarding the village, though, she's usually very kind and loving, albeit with a penchant for witty remarks and a tendency to become defensive and lash out when her sisters' deaths are brought up. -- Likes // Stargazing, protecting others, bickering with Mauretania -- Dislikes // Failure, beastclans, talking about her past Inspiration // RMS OLYMPIC -- RMS Olympic is best known as the sister of the more famous Titanic, but she's also notable for her long and eventful career, which included such achievements as ramming and sinking a U-boat during World War One. Olympic was known as Old Reliable due to her war service and was also referred to as The Ship Magnificent in advertisements. Her long, dramatic life finally came to a peaceful end in 1935, when she was retired and scrapped. She's my personal favorite ship! |
