Carpathia's charge was lost long ago, killed in a tragic accident while they were traversing the Southern Icefield. In the years since then she has wandered, wraithlike and weeping, and throughout her travels she avoided coming into direct contact with other dragons, her shame too great to let her show herself.

After several years, Carpathia began to show her face once again, a change which came about slowly and with help from her familiar. Her confidence has risen and she's joined a clan - coincidentally, the same one her charge's sister ended up joining - and although she's given herself a name - something her old clan simply didn't do - and changed her entire lifestyle she hasn't forgotten the young Skydancer hatchling she swore to protect all those years ago.

PERSONALITY
Carpathia is a gentle, compassionate dragon with a motherly aura. Younger dragons often come to her for advice, which she has plenty of, and she's usually more than willing to just listen when others need to talk. She's also very humble and tends to downplay any achievements or good deeds of hers, as she dislikes getting too much attention, and even the grumpiest, most unfriendly dragons treat her with respect due to her warm, agreeable demeanor. Notably, she generally avoids talking about her charge, only ever bringing it up around Olympic; these conversations are few and far between, as neither of them like talking about what happened.

INSPIRATION
Fandragon of RMS Carpathia, known for her heroic rescue of Titanic survivors in 1912. During this rescue, Carpathia dodged icebergs in the darkness while she raced as fast as she could - around 15-17 knots despite her design service speed of 14 knots. This speed was achieved by turning off almost all heating around the ship so as to save as much steam as possible for the engines and by waking all the ship's off-duty stokers to help shovel coal as fast as possible. Thanks to the heroic efforts of her crew and passengers, 705 people were saved.
