Biography

Goldfoo
The Peacekeeper
Head of Clanguard

"You're safe. We're here to protect."

Goldfoo's mother was the one-time mate of a womanizing fae, who left her and his two children behind to continue his conquests. His mother Sandtiger fought hard to feed her two hatchlings, but she eventually had to send his sibling off to serve the Windsinger. When Goldfoo was old enough, she too went off to serve the Windsinger.
Reluctant to follow in her father's footsteps but terrified of raising hatchlings lest they share his childhood, Goldfoo has been wandering ever since. After a humorous run-in with a few of her hatchlings, Euryale convinced him to stay a while.

He'd never really thought about it, but Goldfoo's size makes him optimal for peacekeeping within the clan. He's stepped into the role of their head clanguard. Decked in warder's gear, Goldfoo also wears a simple copper necklace from his current mate Eos. None were more surprised than he when she presented it to him and proposed. Her care of the clan's hatchlings touches his heart and their relationship is a happy domestic picture of protector and carer. Her tenderness has assuaged any fears he had about raising hachlings with her, after watching how she tended others' nests, and he takes pride in raising his own to serve in the Lightweaver's guard.

He's one of the first to witness the shadow assault, when a black skydancer drops out of the sky on a visiting dragon and covers their mouth in shadow. His roar shortly follows Nemoin's scream, heralding the attack on the clan. His sheer size drives away the skydancer when he charges and from there, he is in overdrive, barking orders, corralling clanmates into the warrens as they scurry under him like a living roof. He stays close to the entrance, beating away sneaking shadelings with windgusts that can rip through scale while Euryale and the rest of the clanguard chase and bite and defend. He hasn't had to fight like that in a long time, he thinks darkly when everything finally settles uneasily in the Ruins. At least he was still up to the task.

Somehow he managed to get out of the raid on Shadow in better health than everyone else despite his flight's weakness to Shadow. He is tired but his job as guard is done; those who have returned are safe. He crawls into the tunnels and curls around the hatchlings with Eos, who smiles at him with overwhelming love. He can't imagine ever leaving Light again.

The clan needs more guards, after losing three to the Shadow assault. As head of the guard, he starts joining Gerard and Belael in their market missions, looking for dragons with that same possessive spark that so many of the clan's fighters have. First he found was the massive plague guardian Hiko and his hatchling daughter, followed by a grizzled ice coatl matron named Illusion who brought a variety of traps in her arsenal. With the addition of the earthen Chrissy for defense of the tunnel systems, he finally feels they can get comfortable again. He settles into training and drills for them, getting them up to standards to protect such a large clan.

(They also need more magical fighters besides Enishi in the Borderguard.)
