Chrysocolla

"Just Chrissy is fine. Parents didn't need to give me such a long name..."

Chrysocolla doesn't know how to make armor, she isn't some fire flight blacksmith, but she knows how to take care of it. Originally from Terraclae, she took umbrage as a hatchling that her flight provided the raw material for such works but never dealt with such material itself. Strong-willed and determined, Chrissy set out as soon as she could take care of herself to Blacksand Annex to learn how to care for armor and weapons.

They were.... rather confused that she didn't want to know how to make them, but found plenty of use for her. Her outbursts against shoddy craftsmanship and poor metal quality entertained them and earned her an honorary induction to the armorsmiths guild. She learned how to fix armor and weapons from mistakes made by younger blacksmiths, repairing chainlinks and scalemail, straightening and sharpening swords, hammering out dents in platemail as well as ornamental detailing and gem socketing. But then of course, she needed real practice. Blows from a mantarune cannot be imitated, nor the scorch damage of a molten wartoad.

So next she learned how to fight.

She didn't go particularly far, picking up with a few well-reputationed mercenaries out of the Molten Scar in exchange for professional gear repair. She trained on jackalopes and smokegyres, learning how to use her elemental talents offensively. Once in a while she'd go back to the guild to learn a new technique, but there was something she simply couldn't find in the Wastes. Nice as the blacksmiths and mercenaries were, they weren't her people. Though she could ignore it up until now, the need for a community fit to her pace and desires would only get stronger. Plus, the Magmablood rebellion was starting to singe the streets and old hierarchies were reasserting themselves, including their distinct opinions on non-fire blacksmiths. She migrated her business further north, with the idea that Water, Light or Nature could make good fits for her work.

Which is how she ended up at a job market near the Beacon being sized up by a large golden Imperial. The pearlcatcher who brought her to him seems smug, but she's figured out that's not uncommon in the Sunbeam Ruins. Her request for a three week trial to see if their clan is right for her is met with respect and approval, and they travel up to the Beacon. There's a certain sense of progression, or self improvement that she gets upon seeing the lair that lets her know she's in the right place. The buildings are old but haven't been torn down. That pearlcatcher has been adding to them in moderation, patching in the same style to keep the look of the place the same. It's impossible to miss the barracks that necessitate her employment, but the grand courtyard and garden take up almost as much space. This work seems both satisfying and challenging, with opportunities for both armor work and personal training. She hangs her hammer and tools in her room, and claims the clan as much as it claims her.

She not only works alongside the clanguard as the prime tunnel defense master but with them as their armorer. They value her work, as does Mirinae. The wildclaw appreciates the finer points of armor care and looking fancy. She doesn't see eye to eye with the borderguard though. Too wild to make her feel safe, even if they are original members of the clan. But she trusts Goldfoo and he trusts them, so she'll put it aside. They don't wear proper armor anyway. She's working to build her reputation as a smith, which is a little hard when she doesn't forge her own gear, and often deals with smaller clans who can't afford newer gear.
