  A B O U T
Manta is an assistant to Morgan, helping him fish by swimming alongside the ship and driving schools into the nets. She’s gotten quite proficient at mimicking porpoise calls in the recent years, occasionally enlisting their help to corral particularly large catches in exchange for a portion of the haul.

Outside of the water, she’s very talkative, chattering on for hours about what she’s observed and learned during the day. Gull and Sparrow are her usual audience, and she helps them prepare various fish and shellfish while she talks. She enjoys sketching, filling the margins of Gull’s recipe books with filleting diagrams and less relevant but equally detailed portraits of marine life.

She spends so much time with Morgan that being around his brother Killian was inevitable. She has picked up a few more of Killian’s tricks than the crew would prefer, but so far it seems that she is using her knowledge for good. When Killian wakes up with some extra charcoal whiskers on his face, the other crew members know who’s behind it.

  H I S T O R Y
As soon as Manta learned about the creatures for which she was named, she developed a fascination with them. There were sizeable populations in the coastal Regions of the Dragonhome where she was raised, and she spent much of her childhood studying them.

She has whole folios covered in detailed sketches of their anatomy and locomotion. Though she would eventually expand to studying all forms of sea life, rays hold a special place with her.

She was not born a nocturne, but she fixated on the idea of becoming one at an early age, as they were the dragons that mostly closely resembled her favorite subject. As neither she nor her parents had the treasure on-hand to afford such a scroll, she took out a loan that would cover her breed change and the associated medical costs.

Though she initially signed onto the Endeavor crew as a means to pay back that loan, she has developed a close relationship with the other dragons over the years spent working with them. Her contract is close to expiring, but it seems that she may stay with them longer than originally planned.
