  A B O U T
Gull is the energetic and eccentric cook of the SMS Endeavor. She received her nickname from her unusual adeptness at hunting and catching seagulls, which are the staple meat of many of her dishes. That’s not to say that many of her dishes taste the same. Quite the opposite, as she is always experimenting with new techniques and flavors.

She can make excellent foods out of the usual grains and meats, but likes to get creative and supplement them with wild ingredients: kelps and seaweeds, marine invertebrates, ship rats, a variety of fish and shellfish, tropical fruits, basically anything she can get her claws on. All of her recipes are delicious, though sometimes with an unsettling texture. Dragon with a more delicate constitution have learned not to inquire after the ingredient list, lest they spoil their meal.

Her folio is where she keeps her culinary notes. She isn’t the sort of dragon to write down recipes and repeat dishes, but she does scribble down ideas for future dishes and ingredients to try next. When she’s not in the galley, she’s often perched on a railing with her folio, singing a cacophonous tune.

Over the years, some dragons have suggested that singing is not her strong suit, but that doesn’t stop her. She learned to sing from her coatl mother, after all, and she likes to keep the memory close.

  H I S T O R Y
Gull found her calling while training to become a witch. She never quite got the hang of potion making, but quickly discovered a talent for cooking even the most hideous of ingredients into a palatable dish. The third time her mentor found Gull ladling delicious eye-of-newt soup out of his cauldron, he recommended that the young dragon find a different line of work.

While many lairs were hesitant to take on a cook with such a bizarre set of recipes, she soon found a position aboard a merchant ship where her ability to work with limited ingredients was a boon. It posed a suitable challenge to her, and the variety of seafood to be fished in the deep ocean added just enough spice to pique her interest.

She’s been with the Endeavor crew ever since, and only slightly regrets quitting her training, though she supposes she was not much of a witch to begin with. She’s still in the habit of humming or singing over her cookpots, though she’s not incanting. Incanting consciously, at least. Witch or no, her crewmates seem to be in fine health for dragons at sea for so long, and they never hit a storm they can’t handle.
