Biography

13388.png BRISEIS

alongside panacea, and verity, and embrion

• There are 4 adolescent heirs blistering at Sallondon's claws, expected to take upon his machine when he finally dies, one day. This feat, fashioned especially for the not faint-hearted, was hung upon these poor worthless dragonet's shoulders the moment they hatched; they were dunked in lava and as it poured over their scales Sallondon melded them to be choked and malevolent . Slimy, aggressive, Briseis is one of them, he resents his peers, and everything else, as he twitches his necklace of skulls between his talons, his only worldly possession, he goes about sulking bitterly and projecting hostility; he hopes every dragon around him dies, he hopes this machine dies, he hopes he himself dies. Any dragon who speaks to him, even so as much perceives him, are enveloped in his unrelenting fury, his hateful glare is an angry festering pool of red, and even this great horrible machine cowers under his visage

• Sallondon specifically has a mental torture designed in mind for Briseis; the Pearlcatcher's mother was just that, a snobby, frothing Pearlcatcher, whose snout was always held high . Working among Sallondon's dragons she was arrogant, too arrogant, and fell at the hands of her own arrogance; her bossy and holier-than-thou behavior was deemed inappropriate for the workplace... she put rebellious thoughts in other dragon's minds... and so she was killed, faltering into the machine at the wrong time. Briseis never met his mother, but before she died she was tending to an egg(Briseis), which Sallondon stole afterwards. Instead of telling him what truly happened, Sallondon withholds all of this information from Briseis and tells him that his mother is still alive and well. Simply, Sallondon says, she didn't care about Briseis, so she handed his egg off to the coatl without batting an eye. This brews a special kind of hatred in Briseis. Sallondon knows this. Believing its his birthright to deserve better, the dragonet spends every day thinking poisonous thoughts about his mother, and what could be, and why doesn't she want him (the much worse truth that nobody was ever there in the first place to care about him always looms)

• To be preserved, same with his peers, Briseis isn't allowed to do much work and is kept away from the public eye, instead spending his days training and slithering around in caverns. He avoids seeing his fellow heirs and tells them straight up to their faces any moment he sees them that he hates them. Once they are all adults, and once Sallondon is dead, the 4 heirs are to be forced to fight to the death, the last dragon standing given inheritance of the machine. Briseis deliberately tries to stop this from happening to himself. He purposely fumbles and flails about in combat with his trainers and pretends to be physically inadequate in attempt to make them disappointed in him so they'll let him die quickly when the time comes. But when eyes aren't on him, he'll go to corner his 'friends' and claw them until they cry. He's very physically sturdy, set shoulders, rather large for a Pearlcatcher, so an intimidating figure

• Scars and wounds litter his body, disfigured by his bath in lava as a hatchling, which he believes make him look shambling and hideous. Despite his aggression Briseis is actually rather dependent; any semblance that another dragon cares about him and he'll follow them around in the distance in hopes that they’ll take care of him, which makes him kind of easy to manipulate, and to an extent, very self-loathing. He doesn't look at his pearl. He neglects it vehemently, whenever he sees it he throws it violently at the wall or any nearby dragon in a bout of rancor. Cracks litter its surface

(hatched on Halloween. Omg nice)
