Book of Eldritch Horror
Scion was born to a dark world. His father, determined to find a powerful heir to his seat of power in Saibhreas, had sent messengers throughout the land to request suitors of great repute. In the first clutch, Scion was born. He was the only one of his siblings who Cain invited to stay in Saibhreas, partially because of a rumor he could see the future with his milky, useless eyes. As far as he knows, this isn't the case.

Despite this disappointment, his childhood was fairly pleasant. He was a strangely intelligent child, curious about the darker parts of his father's affairs. His only friend growing up was a small rain frog that lived on the windowsill of his nursery named Fang. He never asked after his mother.

He began to teach himself magic to supplement his eyes, and his passions grew progressively darker. His relationship with his father crumbled as he dove into more dangerous, experimental magic. The other dragons in the city -- even the ones who had known him as a hatchling -- avoid him. Something about him feels unnervingly aware, like despite his sightless eyes, he can see deeply into your soul. It became impossible to startle him, and increasingly one got the feeling that he knew your thoughts before you even knew them.

When his only friend Fang (the frog) died, he attempted necromancy for the first time to resurrect him. He succeeded, but he also summoned a Wraith Hound from the Shadow Realm as well. Thankfully, Scion gets on better with animals (alive or undead) better than he does dragons, or his dark interests would have been discovered for sure.

On paper, he is training to be a lightning mage, but the strange, dry breeze that follows him wherever he goes feels less like the pure joyful energy of the Stormcatcher and more like something pale and malevolent. He carries the emblem and standard of the Stormcatcher, but all know instinctively that his possession of them defiles them. As the son of the Chief Magistrate, however, he is protected from the hatred and fear of the residents of Saibhreas.

He began kidnapping young dragons as soon as he mastered the Enchantment of Frozen Time, a terribly difficult spell that puts a dragon to sleep in a miniaturized form until he lifts the spell on them. He hides them all in his den while he searches for potential buyers.... of which there are plenty. He noticed many clans need fresh genetic material in order to keep their generations strong, and by scouring the Shifting Expanse searching for abandoned hatchlings, he can provide that to these clans... for a price.

It may seem twisted but noble, but where Blossom and the other two trainers take in any dragon willing to learn, he only seizes dragons of good breeding and unique coloration. He has left many hatchlings to die while he collects potential product. It's typically very relaxing for him -- if they run, he hunts them down with his brand new, vicious wraith hound.

He knows that these crimes would probably earn him a banishment from Saibhreas, but what to do? Experimentation is an expensive hobby.
Since the birth of Flail of Swiftclaw and her little boy toy Ayaka's lightning-eyed daughter, Scion has known his seat as the sole heir was in trouble. He had never wanted the power or the responsibility, but if he loses his rank, he'll be cast out of Saibhreas for good.

Perhaps she is only a child, but he can't help but hate her viciously. No doubt a child blessed by the Stormcatcher himself would be a favorite with the stupid townspeople. They already didn't like him. Now that they would see what they could have in a leader... a golden child... the chosen one...

There would be consequences, he knew that. Cain wouldn't like Flail and House Swiftclaw in charge of Saibhreas. Even Scion knew that her "politics" verged on violence, instead of diplomacy. As a trading city, they couldn't afford her style of leadership without compromising their income.

Not that the general public would care. She had different eyes, and that's all they'd care about. Never mind that he had different eyes too... just ones that couldn’t see.

Scion can see the irony, though.
Eventually Aaruhi wasn't a child anymore, and her mother had begun campaigning for her ascension to the throne in full force. Which meant his father's pressure on him was only increasing, and Scion was spending less and less time in Saibhras.

Knowing your enemy was the first step to defeating them, right? It was time he paid the Blessed One a visit.

Casting a shroud around himself made sneaking onto Swiftclaw grounds simple. Not even Flail's meathead air guardians could catch him when he was using such a strong invisibility spell. Some of Shadowbinder's enchantments were quite handy in a tough spot. Not to mention he inherited his agile flight skills from his lovely absent mother.

He snuck into Aaruhi's quarters just as quickly -- she wasn't there, unsurprisingly, since she trained so much -- but he could still snoop around in her stuff, right? Except her rooms were so spartan, there was almost nothing for him to investigate. His magic felt around the room, searching for anything that had any subtle significance, but it found nothing. The most personal item it found was a small stuffed Stormcatcher, complete with singemarks on its soft, felt body. He held it carefully, charmed that she kept it despite having been an adult for some time. It was well worn, and one of its arms was sewn back on messily; he could feel the uneven stitches.

For the first time since breaking in, he felt like he was intruding. With a shake, he set her doll down carefully and flew out of the room to find her.

She wasn't on the training grounds, and she wasn't in the armory -- though he was alarmed at just how many weapons Flail was stockpiling. His magic recoiled from some of them -- she had even located cursed weaponry? Perhaps she did want a civil war... Did the Magistrate position matter this much to her?

Close to giving up, he began wandering the gardens in search of her. If she wasn't out here, then she was off hunting with her numerous guards, and he would have no chance of observing her there.
