Incident Report

Report Regarding: Fungus-covered Ichor

Subject was spotted attempting to cross the border into the Windswept Plateau. Subject was... disturbingly covered in fungus. His entire mane appeared to be made of the stuff, and several shelves of mushrooms grew from his fur along the rest of his body. When subject spotted the C-I patrol he attempted to flee; due in part to the strange sludge that appeared to be secreted from his mushrooms, leaving a clear trail on the ground, he was not difficult to track.

Trouble arose when he was finally cornered. Testimony follows:
"My patrol, I'll have you know, was made of some of the finest C-Is in the order; this Ichor was outnumbered with nowhere left to run, and it should have been routine from there. Just when I was about to deliver a killing blow, it seemed like a cloud of spores erupted from every mushroom on his body. I was choked with the stuff! Normally, I would have expected the rest of my patrol to follow up when I failed, but all of us were caught by surprise, and we couldn't breathe. And then we fell asleep. We woke up an hour or two later, and the Ichor was nowhere to be seen."

This is just one such report of many. The subject appears to have weaponized these strange mushroom growths as a kind of defense mechanism, including a sedative strong enough to put an entire patrol of C-Is to sleep. Despite this, his behavior suggests that he is reluctant to fight, and the same fungi that protect him make him easier to track. Attempt to utilize more strategic methods of pursuit in the future, and when the subject is ultimately taken down, collect samples of his mushrooms; they could be put to use by our Guardians.

Report Archived.

About
plaguemidsmall.png

Once, he was a Seeker -- traveling all the land in hunt of Shade to extinguish, but things went wrong along the way. All Agaricus knows about himself is waking up in the Scarred Wasteland, unable to leave the borders of Plague lands and with the voice of an ancient goddess whispering in the back of his mind. All memory of his former mission is gone, and all memory of his former self went with it. He is unnaturally strong, with an impenetrable coat and unbreakable horns, and on occasion he finds himself overwhelmed with fits of bloodlust. When he emerges from the haze, he is often distraught to see what he destroyed in his rage.

He grows mushrooms in his mane and fur; some have a mild sedative, which he uses to control his rage; others have analgesic properties, which he hopes can be useful to those he harms. Agaricus desperately wants to be gentle, despite his nature. His dream is to leave the Scarred Wasteland behind; his hope is that it would cure him, though he is sure that is impossible.

Loyalties
plaguemidsmall.png

Agaricus is unaffiliated with any clan or nation. He most frequently travels the Scarred Wasteland alone, though this poses its own dangers; Carnage-Ichors and Malice-Ichors, Gaolers far more dangerous than him, hunt his kind, and dragons like him frequently move in groups for protection. Agaricus finds himself unbothered by the potential danger to his life, though; he is not a good dragon. He has hurt others, and the world would not miss him if he were gone. A bit more danger than he is already in barely matters.

Even if he were not, at his core, a loner, there are few clans Agaricus could pledge his loyalty toward. Trapped as he is in the Scarred Wasteland, there is little hope of him joining any clan that does not also make its home in the Scarred Wasteland -- and there are too many Plague clans who would know what he is, and refuse to harbor him. Ultimately, Agaricus feels this is for the best; until he can control himself, he would not put others at risk by being in his company.

The only dragon in the world that he is loyal to left the Scarred Wasteland long ago: Numair helped Agaricus to grow the mushrooms that he uses to protect himself and to help those he hurts. Agaricus was left with a life-long affection for mushrooms and a particular loyalty to the Spiral that gave him his life back.

Numair

Friend | Mycologist | [Empire]

The mycologist who befriended Agaricus and helped him to find solutions to his violent problems has moved on from the Scarred Wasteland now, but Agaricus will never forget him. Numair helped him more than any other dragon in his memory -- and, true, that isn't many, but it means something. Agaricus will always respect and admire Numair, and should Numair ever require his help, Agaricus would offer it without question or regard for his own self.

Auryon

Pursuer | Carnage-Ichor

Auryon is the Carnage-Ichor that Agaricus has become most familiar with; this is the hunter who has been most dogged about catching him, and Agaricus sees him far too often for his own comfort. There are advantages to often running across the same dragon, though: Agaricus is starting to learn Auryon's weaknesses, and hopes someday to be able to escape for good.
