Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this adventurous Ridgeback wandered a little too far from his home lair (grxndsxn, 437722), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the home lair, to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here, or to the hub if you don't want another dragon in return. Please refrain from exalting him!

While Halley's a little more stern and serious than his brother Pineapple, he still loves to have fun and adventure - and seeks out a clan where he can do these kinds of things.

Halley started his journey early, freshly hatched and barely able to fly, and his first stop was with the Wandering Clan. The matriarch, Enkidu, was almost fierce in how she took him in, and refused to let him continue his journey until he was grown(or at least, could fly for more than an hour at a time).
Halley built up his endurance and learned some tips from many of the dragons who would come and go.
Between lessons and practice, an Imperial named Chara took him aside to draw his portrait, and told him to keep it for as long as it made him happy.
When he was grown, and his wings were strong, he bid the Wanderers goodbye, and continued his journey to see the world.

Fresh off his hatchling's enthusiasm, Halley went off from the Wandering Clan. Although he missed those who practically raised him. While on the road, he thought about Enkidu and repeated all the warrior mantras she taught him whenever he felt alone or scared. Eventually he reached the Arcane Territory and was found wandering around a market by a large Gaoler named Thorn. They talked a little and Thorn invited the young traveler back to his clan, a group of dragons known as the Kikai. There he was given a hot meal and a cozy den to sleep in, and in return he told the dragons about his journies with the wandering clan. Halley's one mistake was saying that Enkidu was the greatest warrior he'd ever met. As soon as the words left his mouth, all eyes turned to a white imperial lingering just outside the dining hall. Two green eyes fixed on him and Halley realized with a start what a mistake he's made. The imperial, Maelgad, took him out the next day and told him to fight her. Being a pacifist, Halley respectfully declined. Minutes later, Maelgad had knocked him to the ground and promised him she would show him that she deserved the title of greatest warrior. Halley stayed with Maelgad in her cabin for the rest of his time with the Kikai. There he learned several unorthodox fighting styles and 75 ways to kill a dragon. Although he would never use it, the information was still helpful (?) and he thanked Maelgad for it before he left.

Halley next arrived within the Lightweaver's territory. He followed a caravan of dragons into a city called the Lightweaver's Shadow. The city was quite beautiful to be in during the Brightshine Jubilee. Paper lanterns hung across the streets and dragons danced through the streets. Strange fireballs and balls of light drifted through the streets. The sight entranced Halley; this city seemed simply magical. Masked and armed dragons sat on rooftops, overlooking and protecting the festivities. A couple of musicians sat in the square, playing instruments and singing. Halley was so busy watching everything that he forgot what time it was. It was nearly midnight and seemed as though the party would go all night long. Halley was extraordinarily tired and needed a place to stay. He made his way through the town and eventually came across a tavern and inn called The Spider's Nest. The place looked seedy. Halley approached cautiously. Although he was fully capable, he didn't want to get into a fight. A firm hand on the shoulder kept Halley from entering the tavern. Halley turned to see a large imperial. The man introduced himself as Perceval. Perceval said Halley could stay at his farm; it would be much safer. Halley agreed and happily followed Perceval to the outskirts of the city. From Perceval's farm, the city looked even more beautiful. The music was faint and felt almost sad from so far away. The lights twinkled softly and dragons flew over the rooftops. Perceval introduced Halley to his husband, Mammoth. Mammoth was a small and timid gaoler. Everything about the farm was kind and soft and comforting. Halley learned that Perceval was a master swordsman and asked for training. Perceval happily obliged. So, Halley spent his time mostly on the farm, rarely venturing into the city. Every morning, he helped Mammoth in the fields and helped tend to the animals. Then, in the afternoons, he practiced with Perceval and learned to wield a blade. And, sometimes, at night, he would go into the city to buy materials and supplies for the farm. Halley learned many valuable lessons from Mammoth, Perceval, and the farm. He learned hard work, how to sword fight, how to do grow crops, how to take care of animals, but he also learned many priceless lessons. Mammoth and Perceval taught him the strength of love, the value of friends, and acted almost like dads to him. Halley would forever cherish his time at the farm.

After travelling for a while Halley found himself caught in a snowstorm. It was so bad that he couldn't tell his right from his left or his up from his down! After what felt like hours flying in circles, Halley felt himself collide with another dragon! He heard the dragon grumble for a minute before realising he was still there. "Ya never seen another dragon before kid!" he snapped harshly. Halley could barely see this other dragon, but he looked huge. "Just a bit lost, I'm not used to the snow." Halley admitted sheepishly. The other dragon sighed before guiding Halley to a large doorway, with a sign which read 'The Black Frost Inn' above it. Once inside Halley was able to see that the other dragon was in fact another ridgeback, who was a vibrant blue colour!

"The names Cobalt," the dragon huffed "If you need weapons come find me in my smithy, if you need anything else then find someone else to bother.".
"Cobalt!" a scolding voice screeched before a tiny fae flew into view. "You'll have to excuse him, he's always this grumpy," she said whilst glaring at the larger dragon "I'm Elanna if you need any help please come and find me." She smiled softly at him.

Over the next few days Halley was given several cooking lessons by the small fae which would all be very useful on the road! Eventually Halley knew it was time to move on, but before he left Ellana handed Halley a map out of the Southern Ice Fields. Hopefully the next dragon he met on the road would be just as nice as she was!
