Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this little tree lover wandered a little too far from his home lair (ShadowsInTheMist, 514139), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the urge to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here.

Kurshi's best friend is a tree. He calls it Aspen. (Yes, it's an aspen tree. But a very small one.) Kurshi carries this tree just about everywhere he goes. He's tried putting it in pots before, but he hasn't found the right one yet. He hopes to travel the world in search of new tree species, and a pot for his Aspen! He's got some siblings out traveling as well, so if you see Welun or Siksta, give them a hello!

Kurshi found himself stumbling through the Starfall Isles after dark. He didn't have any light with him so he was using the stars to guide him. But the stars got closer, and he realized they weren't stars. They were actually flowers, and the flowers were on beautiful trees! He was admiring them when a dragon popped out between their trunks! Startled, Kurshi made to run when this mysterious dragon spoke:

"My name is Arseni, and I'm here to warn you how dangerous it is to wander around the Starwood Strand at night. The flowers will cause you to lose your way, never to be seen again."

Glad to be found, Kurshi followed Arseni back to her clan, to a warm welcome and a check-up from the medics. He stayed with Arseni for the night, and told her about his search for new trees and the perfect pot for his best friend. To his surprise, Arseni was genuinely interested in his relationship with Aspen, and they talked long into the night.
The two of them became friends over the length of Kurshi's stay, and when it came time for him to depart, he wasn't sure he was ready to go. But Arseni hugged him close and gave him a Sunbeam Dryad. "He'll keep you company, and help you look after Aspen for me," she told him. After one last hug, Kurshi left the Starfall Isles.

He traveled to the Forgotten Clan, where he hit it off with Budsy and his mate, Botan, who were keen botanists. Botan was the clan's leading expert, in fact. She showed Kurshi the clan's entire collection of flowers, tended in a small alcove that overlooked a forest. It was incredible.

Unfortunately, they could not help him find the perfect pot for Aspen. It turned out that most of the dragons were notorious hoarders. The few pots in the clan's communal storage just weren't special enough. (He had been intrigued by a canopic jar, but at the warning of a Coatl who had extensive knowledge of them, he decided it would be best not to risk Aspen's health.)

Kurshi traveled long and far, heading north until the dense trees of the Tangled Wood gave way to the vast plains and rocky canyons of Dragonhome. He was intrigued by the flora of the region; the hardy nondescript grasses and shrubs were a strong departure from the flowers and trees he was used to.

In his trek across the grasslands he spotted a shock of green on the edge of a cliff. Approaching, he found the cliff to be a massive garden complex: steel scaffolding zigzagged across the cliff supporting planters full of flowers, bushes, and vines of all kinds. Lost in awe, Kurshi wandered in the garden until he stumbled into a Mirror. The Mirror, who looked part plant himself in his green jacket and leaf crown, stared in surprise for a few moments before gathering himself. "Hello there stranger, welcome to the home of clan Ti'lo unan Yael'lo. I'm Ti'drae, how can I help you?"

"OohTyDidIHearYouRightDoWeHaveAGuest?" and "We have a visitor?" called a pair of excited voices, followed by a smiling Spiral and a grinning Gaoler popping out of the bushes. The pair happily introduced themselves as Lemon and Ki'szei. Lemon, seeing Kurshi's interest in plants, explained she was a nature witch and the primary caretaker of the garden. She invited him to stay with the clan for a while so they could share botanical knowledge and maybe find the perfect pot for Aspen.

While none of the various containers presented by the members of the clan were quite right, Kurshi left the canyon with a wealth of new knowledge.

Kurshi's travels next took him to Light territory, where he touched down in a lovely sunwarmed meadow, filled with beautiful flowers and edged with lush trees. No matter where he looked, the signs of loving care were obvious... but there wasn't a dragon in sight.

He took his time exploring, noting the deeply green leaves and huge blossoms, and soaking up the serenity of the meadow. He was drawing close to the downward slope of the meadow when he realized with a start that he was no longer alone: a dragon the color of roses was watching him from a path leading down a hill.

Discomfited by her silent approach, Kurshi stammered out an apology for trespassing. She merely laughed and waved it away. "The Meadow knows when it's needed; you're not the first stranger I've met up here."

With that, she plucked a few blossoms and invited him down the hill. At its base was a cheerful inn, where Calanthe introduced him Astor, the clan's arborist.

The pale Imperial was very interested in Aspen, and showed Kurshi his collection of bonsai. While he had no pots that were perfectly suited for Aspen, he got Calanthe to cast a charm of health over the little tree, and then gave Kurshi plenty of advice for keeping his friend healthy until he found the right one.

Next, Kurshi drifted all the way to the Reedcleft Ascent, where he met a Mirror named Brownie. The brown dragon was his Clan's nature flight representative and loved to talk about trees, so Kurshi introduced Brownie to his best friend Aspen. They tried a few pots that Brownie kept lying around, but none were perfect enough for Kurshi and Aspen. Eventually, Kurshi decided to take his travels elsewhere, but he wouldn't forget his new friend.
