H I S T O R Y Incomprehensible ramblings aside, it is hard for me to say many bad things about Mặc Khuê. After all, she was the closest to the Masters of Earthsong House, and had taught many hatchlings throughout the very first years of their lives. Unless they’re born from noble families, hatchlings can have quite a difficult time having their connections to their old clans cut off. And among hatchlings born on this island, those lucky enough to survive the peculiar spiritual energy sphere during the embryonic period might not be able to find their footing outside of the martial arts world. Mặc Khuê’s Pen Ink Hall, though a small and rundown village school, has been providing elementary education for cultivating hatchlings for many years now, despite the scrutiny and judgment of those around her. Mặc Khuê herself has a humble background. Her father, the original owner of Pen Ink Hall, was a teacher who taught young children to read and write. Perhaps his compassion had stopped him from giving in to the pressure and fear of the villagers, and thus he decided to keep the egg that he adopted from an abandoned shore on Divinity. The egg soon became his only child. Up until the age of ten, Mặc Khuê would not step foot outside of the school - which was also her home - due to bullying. She understood more than anyone else the cost of being “different” in that sort of environment. Mặc Khuê went to the Grand City to study under Madame Earthsong when she was just thirteen. After she fully Awakened, she returned to her home and took over her father’s duties, who at the time was severely ill. She still runs the school to this day, long after her father has passed, and families of hatchlings - those that care enough about their cultivator offspring, anyway - trust that she would not treat their children horribly. Nowadays it seems that Mặc Khuê has come down with some form of delusion, always going on about the end of the world and some kind of gateway. This does not hinder her wisdom, fortunately, and the way she talks about her students is still the same - not short of complaints, but endearing all in all. |

____The year Mặc Khuê took over the village school, one of her students’ father gifted her an unusual magical artifact: an old paper scroll of seemingly infinite length called the Manuscript of the Original God that casts all kinds of strange spells to those it comes in contact with. Her spells are all allegedly from Earthsong House’s teachings.

The scroll is ripped into pieces, said pieces form small paper cranes that can obey her commands, increasing her and her teammates' vitality. ____Defense Lesson: A segment of the scroll is ripped and formed into paper lanterns scattered across the field. These lanterns can suck up energy if approached. |
