BIOGRAPHY

From the day the skyship landed on this side of the Portal, about five years have passed. Or rather, what felt like five years, which in reality was god knows how many decades.

The Arcanist appeared once again in the Reverent Hermit’s dream. His silhouette ghosted behind the thin veil of the Portal, and from where he stood a column of stardust has started to rise. Higher, higher, it touches the scrolling nebulae above, carrying with it memories of an unknown era.

The Duke of Enlightenment reads and rereads the scripture that had been handed to him about a world that was populated by countless beasts. Now that he’s truly living in that world, he finds himself struggling to believe everything is real. His decision to step over the boundary of that Portal with his companions was probably the biggest mistake in his life, and yet somewhere deep within his heart, he remembers feeling that the otherworld was calling for him. They had called from within the thin waterfall of arcane. Determined, he picked up his pen.

He has seen from the Hermit’s eyes an open scroll of stunned melancholy. The birth of their only hatchling still shook her to her core, even though he had thought that she couldn’t care less about the child. She has been visiting the Tomb frequently. The Fallen Demigod theorizes that she can hear the whispers of their world’s dragons from beyond, however she has never revealed to anyone what truly draws her to that place, aside from the urge to find an answer. The only other dragon who visits the Tomb is the Alchemist. She harvests the essences of the bodies for his own studies. No one really knows what will become of it.

As soon as the Duke shows his new plan to his companions, they are immediately interested. A clan built around talent, education and knowledge. A clan that populates dragon magic among humans, so that their childred can feel less isolated. He reasons that, if there is any chance they will never return to their own world, it might be best to think about the future.

They will cause us trouble. They’ll murder us, just like they plan to do with the Fennec-like creatures.” The Carefree Wanderer says. The thought of living among humans fills her heart with annoyance..

Aren’t we basically gods to them?” The Duke hesitates. “I’d say that if we can take hold of some of these bipedal beasts, we have the right to shape our little special society into whatever we want.

Do we…” The Crimson Official seems hesitant. “Do we have to produce offspring?

The question is valid. Now that they have two humanoid hatchlings under their wings, the thought of their species simply becoming obsolete on this side of the Portals dawns on them. Some of the pairs can’t have children. Some others won’t. The Undead Mage and the Frozen Maiden can’t, despite being the most enthusiastic about having humanoid offspring.

“The artificial courtship process is being perfected.” Said the Geneticist. “All you need to do is to provide me with your genetic materials.

The Concubine coordinates the building of their lair. With the help of some local humans, they’ve managed to construct a system right beneath the Rift. Their halls are lined with scriptures. Their library is stocked with all kinds of books, ranging from administrative documents to scientific studies.

Little did they know that all these would soon be torn apart.

There is a secret hidden behind these scriptures.” Says the Mistress of Stars as she lifts the scrolls. “The secrets to unlocked a truly immortal, enlightened existence. A combination of knowledge in battle, science, arts, and spirituality. I have been studying these for almost a hundred years.

The revelation shocks the council.

Don’t be so taken aback. I was a student of the Arcanist before all of you. I was considered one of the top-ranked magic users, after all. Alas, even the Arcanist cannot reverse the situation we’re in right now.

You…” The Duke falters. “Is this the reason why you decided to approach us?

Indeed.” The Mistress says sternly. “What happened to the Arcanist was truly so peculiar that I want to continue their legacy, and I want to get us back to our old world.” She holds out her hand. “I will lay out every piece of my knowledge, and then we will test them one by one using this place’s dragon magic. We will all go through this together, in this very dimension.

Her reassurance, along with stacks and stacks of books that the Mistress has carried over have finally convinced the council. Soon, they start their studies and research. The desire to return to the old Sornieth is still present at the back of their minds, although there is much to rejoice as the clan first starts to grow. The cultivating process has resulted in clear signs of strengthened dragon power within their first humanoids. Words have started to spread. And their first successors grew up healthy.

The whirlwind of stars continues to spin above the isles. As the Mistress observes it, she smiles. The awareness that they are the only dragons here intrigues her. All of her efforts haven't been for naught.

Please tell me everything will be alright.” Her mate whispers.

Are you scared?

Far from it.” The Forgotten presence says. “I’m looking forward to seeing the others’ reaction when the Portal opens again.

The Master of Ground Sect is undoubtedly one of the most important members of the clan.
The resources that she brought over in her quick-wittedness have been the foundation for the Society's educational structure.
However, she does not do all the teachings, nor does she claim to be an expert.
Her main job is to help with arranging accommodation for new Dragonlings, take care of them, and assist in egg hatching.
When she's not doing that, she spends time writing down her knowledge of cultivation.
She is patient, approachable, and knows a lot more than she lets on.
Perhaps that's why she earns the respect of most of the masters and the attachment of the students.
