Copper
Loyal + Sincere + Passionate
"People with integrity do what they say they are going to do. Others have excuses." - Laura Schlessinger

Uh-oh, looks like this honest blacksmith wandered a little too far from his home lair (#45393, Spooner), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the home lair (20kt available here if you do), or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but he would be very grateful!

Copper is paired with Pipe, and one of their goals is to breed as a pair in the lairs they visit. Please don't separate them!

About Me wrote:
Copper is an older blacksmith, passionate about his work (and also passionately anti-weaponry), who is off to do some sightseeing with his wife, Pipe. As the breadwinner of the pair, Copper generally lets his wife do the talking, which is probably a good thing. While he's quiet, Copper's honest mouth has gotten both dragons into trouble plenty of times!

This pair has been having trouble hatching kids in the Lightning flight, which is the real reason for their travels - they've been told by the clan's first seer to have hatchlings in every corner of Sornieth (ie all of the flights) before returning to Lightning for one final try. If you breed Copper and Pipe, please message Spooner with the hatchlings, and she will buy one if she doesn't already have one of your flight's element.

Please do not separate this pair.

Copper had followed his wife in to the ominous cave that bordered the Plague and Shadow flights, and was pleasantly surprised by the clan they encountered. He let Pipe work her magic and after a brief tour of the place, she already had a couple orders. He had last seen her talking with a Banescale, and took the time to look into the doorway at Fantasy that held the fire flight area. It was almost exactly like the Ashfall Wastes, and he could see a few dragons working with the molten metal running through a trough a little further in. Heading in, he took some time to talk with a Coatl in a large blacksmith's mask, that called himself Fire. The pair exchanged metal-working tips and he talked a bit about why he was anti-weapon, and the pair made a few armor pieces together.

By the time he left the Fire door, he was covered in ash and soot, and Pipe had run up to him. She talked fast, in her usual way that he loved to listen to, because it meant she was excited, and she told him of the Banescale and how they could use a nest when one was free, and how they had a room to stay in while they waited. The roiling pools of... green, were a bit scary, but he was happy nonetheless and proceeded to clean up then settle down.

After waiting a little, a few of the nests were open, and the pair were allowed to take their pick. Pipe of course chose for them, and found a nice one that had more branches in it than bone. The pair nested, and were gifted with four beautiful eggs, and after a week of tender care, they hatched into adorable hatchlings, Spirals like their father, with bright red Plague eyes.

After our hatchlings were old enough to fend of themselves my darling and I decided to continue our travel across the globe but only after we do a bit of sight seeing around these..interesting puss filled lands...Why sweetie pie whyy. I suppose it wasn’t all that bad however when my beautiful and darling wife started to get emotional when we bumped into Kettle We ended up staying with Clan Ares for quite a while! We found ourselves moving with the clan from The Scarred Wastelands to The Shifting Expanse. And to our surprise we had another nest of hatchlings not long after! One of the hatchlings looks exactly like her mother! There are three children in total, Son, Daughter, Daughter. They were all born with beautiful lightning eyes!

Me and Pipe's Travels led us to the shadow flight, where we met an interesting clan of dragons!
The clans leaders, Nebby and Lagness welcomed us with open arms, and said we could stay as long as we need, as long as we provide something useful for the clan. So my mate struck a deal with them and offered my services to make them steel lanterns, as it can get quite dark in the Driftwood Drag at night. They accepted and we now have a place to stay until we are ready to travel again.

After a short stay in a place chock-full of other travelers like ourselves, Pipe and I found ourselves traveling towards the Lightweaver's domain. Until that point, we'd been bouncing back and forth between Lightning, Plague, and Shadow clans - and though we were fond of our time spent there, we figured it was time for something new. After quite some time wandering, we stumbled across a quaint lakeside town in a valley. We were welcomed by a coatl, who made note of the new visitors and sent us to the town's inn, where we could stay for however long we needed. I opened up shop, selling armor and trinkets to the dragons of the town, and Pipe started her classic routine of socializing and advertising.

A short while after we took up residency in the inn, we had a clutch of two eggs - a son and a daughter, both Skydancers like Pipe, and identical in every gene to myself. One hatchling was sent to our home lair to join our other children, and the other was so taken with Oxbow that he chose to stay. We left as soon as the hatchlings were grown, off to see what the rest of the world has to offer.

Pipe managed to take us to the Sky Oasis for the anniversary while we were preparing to hatch another clutch. I was excited at first, as it was such a wondrous place. The journey was difficult, though I managed to vanquish it with Piper's help.

An imperial showed us the way, and managed to spare some of his time to strengthen me for the forge's might. The residents were really nice, and they showered us with gifts and excitement.

I feel awful for cutting the visit short, but this place just makes me uneasy. There's a certain feeling of death here, and for such a utopia they sure don't like to talk about anything or anyone not in the Oasis. A wildclaw working at their makeshift forge turned us away when Piper mentioned the imperial that led us here. And there's this fae... They just sit there, staring at everyone with eyes as big as dinner plates.

Pipe doesn't seem to understand. I'm just glad she listened to me, because I get the feeling that if we'd stayed as long as we'd planned, something awful would have happened.

During our travels, Pipe insisted that we stop in Murkbarrow Close to replenish our supplies. While there, I wandered the various ramshackle platforms and makeshift wooden stalls, looking for any other smiths selling their wares, while Pipe did her usual thing and dealt with the more practical matters of haggling. When I returned, I found that she had done a bit more than that; she seemed to have made a new friend, a dragon and chemist by the name of River. More than that, River had invited us back to her lair, so that I might meet her other partners, one of whom was a silversmith.

Well, I certainly couldn't turn down an offer like that! Pipe wasn't quite as sure, given it seemed a touch odd to be celebrating Brightshine Jubilee in Shadow of all places, but I insisted; after all, it's not every holiday that we get a chance to stay with a fellow smith. River happily took up the mantle of our guide, leading us through the dark woods with help of a lantern--at least, until we entered a grove completely overrun by giant, glowing mushrooms that lit up the night. I assumed that we would be stopping there, but instead River led us over towards a hidden cave entrance. Pipe seemed a touch uneasy as we descended deeper and deeper underground, though the darkness didn't trouble myself, and both of us quickly forgot any reservations we had upon reaching our final destination: a large, underground chamber filled with a lake, the dark water glittering with light from the windows of the houses that floated on barges placed upon it.

River seemed quite amused at the surprise and wonder upon our faces, a fact that she did not bother to hide as she led us down the path to the lake, and to one of the larger houses. There, we met her partners, Alkahest and Rajat. Rajat and I quickly started to compare notes and techniques on metalworking, while Pipe saw to it that we would have a nest to use for our eggs.

And so we stayed with them and the rest of the clan for several days. Their Brightshine celebration was indeed small, though I didn't mind it much; while Pipe was more interested in the festivities and sightseeing, I spent much of my time in the forge. And finally, on the last day of the holiday, our eggs hatched! The first, our son, took more after Pipe, while our daughter could have been the spitting image of myself when I was younger. I think it is the eyes.

Thus, with our eggs hatched and the festival ending, we prepared to take our leave. In truth, I would have liked to stay longer, but Pipe pointed out that we shouldn't trouble them overly much--though really, I think the actual reason is that Pipe didn't wish to linger. As the days had gone on, I noticed that she seemed a touch more on edge; I think she misses being out in the open air. And while the darkness doesn't bother me, I didn't wish to make her uncomfortable for my sake.

As we were preparing to go though, our son made it quite clear that he had no intention of going; he had made friends here, and wasn't prepared to leave. In his eyes I could see some of the stubbornness that I myself am prone to, when I am working on a project and do not wish to be interrupted. And so, after ensuring that he would be well cared for, Pipe, I, and our daughter set off on the road again.

Copper's and Pipe's travels brought them to the Viridian Labyrinth, home of Gladekeeper and her followers. Stopping to rest near a stream within the Woodland Path, the two was found by a small hunting party led by an aging mirror, Lossi. Noticing their weary wings, she invited them to stay in her clan until they recuperated their strength.

The clan was large, yet did not feel too crowded, with each dragon being friendly to the newcomers, as if they had always been family. With a safe place to rest, and kind dragons to watch out for them, the pair decided here would be a fine place to lay their new nest.

With close care and help from Mulberry and Nymphaea, the two resident nursery caretakers, Copper and Pipe's eggs hatched into three healthy babies.

Once the hatchlings were old enough and ready to travel, the new parents were ready to head out on their journey once again to continue their quest of visiting every flight. One of the hatchlings chose to stay with Lossi's clan, one chose to travel to see all the new sights alongside their parents, and the other chose to go off on their own journey. And though separated, the family promised to all keep in touch and share tales from their each individual adventures.

We were still traveling by the time the Flameforger's Festival had started, and not long after the two of us entered the Windswept Plateau, we came across quite the anomaly: a night that was almost magically dark. We thought we heard the sounds of some giant monster, so we prepared to flee. As our feet left the ground, a large guest of wind rushed about us, and we were catapulted into the air. That was the last the two of us remembered.

We awoke being carried up to the Cloudsong by a blood-red Skydancer and her equally intimidating Imperial mate. They assured us that everything would be fine and that they were impressed we survived some sort of burst of power from a place called The Three Pillars. Upon arrival to the clan in the Cloudsong, we were taken in quite readily by the clan, who love visitors but sadly never get to have them much.

Once we recovered from the shock of the event that got us up here, we nested and obtained two beautiful eggs. With the help of Aldraline, the overseer of the clan nests, they hatched into a girl and a boy with gorgeous wind eyes. When the hatchlings were grown enough, we left, but not before we got Aldraline to help us avoid those weird pillars.
