All Plague dragons recognize the meaning behind a dragon's blood-red stripes. To take on the role of Necromancer is a sacred trial, the ultimate test of survival and approval from Mother herself. All Plague dragons also recognize the signs of failure. When the infection triumphs over the dragon, the redness spreading until the dragon is unrecognizable, a mindless creature of ill madness. Legends say you can smell them on the fetid breeze, that even Wasteland wanderers delirious from hunger will turn tail and run rather than face them. Failures. Nonbelievers. Ghouls.

Even rarer are tales of salvation. A Necromancer who has failed her trials can still serve the will of Mother, even if her body has betrayed her weakness. To abandon them is to leave a precious resource untapped. A waste of flesh. Only the bravest of Necromancers confront Ghouls, to eliminate them or clear the virulent infection from their body. A neutralized Ghoul trailing behind a Necromancer is clear evidence of her power. The Forgotten give Pox a wide berth, studying him with fear and reverence. It matters little to the dragon. He owes his life to Norovi. Her will is his command.
