Elarth

Name meaning: I Googled the name Elarth, and all I got was an obituary and speculations about "how the Earth got its name" so I'm stumped.

Elarth came from The Behemoth. He was born fresh after the harpy invasion of the Glade, but it's a dangerous place regardless, so clearly something got him during the acclimation process for him to almost die.

the reason why he's a vampire is because Shard bit him; but Shard bit him because he was dying, and Morticia couldn't stand to watch him die so she begged him to.
Afi didn't want him to die either, but in his opinion it should've been his own choice.
Shard is sad also

no one is happy
except that he lived
but then he worries that he's gasp a monster of the night
and runs away without telling anyone



A lone Pearlcatcher hatchling appears in Haven one night, sniffling quietly and ducking away from anyone who approaches him. Eventually, once cornered, he breaks into tears and follows whatever dragon that found him to a suitable carer. He refuses to tell anyone where he came from or who he is...although the green in his eyes is perhaps telling.



Eris is at least a little bit happy when he shows up and she gets another cool bean who NEEDS HER

and then there's Phantom being weird off in the corner somewhere
Taki is also immediately interested in the living dead who has entered her realm

there are dragons in Haven who suspected this one came from the Glade

because it's been a pattern, you see

but since obviously not every dragon with Nature eyes is born in the Glade, this is purely and wholly conjecture on their part and SOMEONE would have written a letter back asking "hey, did anyone by any chance recently lose a hatchling about yea high in black and red colors?" because it's better to ask and receive a "nope, not this time" than risk a situation like SO MANY BEFORE where someone back home starts WORRYING ABOUT THEIR BABY AHEM AHEM

someone responsible would pose the suggestion and the general conclusion would be "yeah, let's do it" while eyeballing Queenie because.... again..... ahem ahem #NeverForget

but this letter was intercepted before it could actually reach anyone who might take it where it needed to go.......

Many months later, a well-used, clearly desperate poster makes its way to Haven. It's a missing poster from the Glade, and the hatchling...looks very familiar.

The resulting confusion is... "great" seems an immense understatement. Haven had thought perhaps the lack of response to their inquiry about their mysterious recent member meant this one hadn't come from the Glade after all. But evidently something had gone horribly awry and that left some dragons highly tense.



Rosette is utterly Appalled

Raynan's already packing his things about to storm the Glade himself to weed out the little sh*t who's responsible for tampering with Important Mail because that is the Only Explanation

Afi, hearing that his boi is alive: -dramatic sobbing for the entire trip there, hugging the entire time while sobbing the entire time-

Rhiri: IMMA KICK HIS BUTT FOR MAKING ME WORRY GOSH HECK

Sequoia: he says he's proud of you and that he loves you and that he's sorry you felt like you had to leave the Glade but that he's happy that you found a home.

Rhiri, yeeting herself off whatever dragon they rode in on: hOW DARE YOU RUN AWAY AND NOT TELL ME WHERE YOU WERE GOIN YOU PRECIOUS LITTLE SH*T

Morticia meanwhile gets off the dragon in a much more orderly state
walks right up to him
and starts tugging on his ear
"you listen to me, young man, i'm sorry if we acted in a way that made you feel unsafe or unwanted [they didn't intentionally btw X'D they loved their boi], but that is no excuse to not leave a note! Your father has been worrying himself sick!!"

but she's like, the whole time
"Honestly, we have an Actual Vampire in our lair and his mate who I still am not certain isn't a serial killer and you thought we would turn you away? I'm sorry that the vampirism has made your life hard, sweetheart, maybe it was a poor decision on my part and we should have waited, but we didn't know how long you had left and I didn't want to lose my boy. That was selfish of me, and I'm sorry. Even so, why on Sornieth did you think you wouldn't be welcome??"
